Don't know if I believe this or not.
This is interesting that he would turn down all these other programs to go to a school like FAU to be with Joey Freshwater.
Briles had received interest from several other programs, including Notre Dame, Houston, Auburn, Cincinnati and Oregon, before landing with Kiffin at Florida Atlantic'.

Some of these might have been legit but I'm more prone to think most were discounted to an apprentice position as a co-coordinator or glorified assistant.

Good to take a break from anything associated with the state of Texas awhile as far as Houston goes.

Auburn is two heads up it's own ass already.

Nothing can impress at Oregon much in the way of offense from a production standpoint.

Brian Kelly is acting like a drug induced gambler on the skids with the future of everyone involved with Notre Dame football.

Cincinnati IMO though is somewhat a proving ground as with Houston, it's not being ruled under an iron fist nor does it appear there is conflict in being your own man in performing the job of coordinator but maybe the issue there is the drain on talent from the surrounding programs.

Guess holding out wasn't an option.
