Pretty obvious there's a belt contraption that runs from that stick he won't turn loose of to his waist/body. 

Not even sure the stick hand is a real hand. 

On further review, stick hand is definitely a fake hand.  So there's a whole contraption under there with that fake hand/arm that does balance. 

Notice they don't show him putting the stick in the fake hand.  Because it's a fake hand.

Its not a fake hand.  Look again he opens and closes it several times.

I do think though that he has some kind of system on that arm that helps him the support the weight.  Possibly wrapping under to his palm.  Even still he would have to balance on that stick which would be pretty fuckin incredible.
