AUBURN, Alabama -- The play fueled Brandon Fulse's offseason.Facing 2nd-and-goal from the 3-yard line early in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, former Auburn quarterback Barrett Trotter found Fulse open and put the throw on Fulse's hands. Fulse dropped the pass. A play later, Onterio McCalebb scored to tie the game, but the drop stuck with Fulse."I was mad at that," Fulse said. "So, in the summer, at camp and at practice, I just focused on the ball, tried to work on my catching, so I won't drop (any) more balls."When the Tigers released their initial depth chart on Tuesday, Fulse and fellow sophomore C.J. Uzomah were listed as co-No. 2 tight ends behind Philip Lutzenkirchen. True freshman Ricky Parks has also turned heads in fall camp with his athleticism. And in an offense expected to use the tight end more in the passing game, catching the ball will be key to earning playing time. Fulse caught only two passes for nine yards as Lutzenkirchen's backup last fall, but new offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler wants to use more multiple tight-end sets this season. Auburn's offense will use two-tight end sets, Fulse said, and sometimes put three tight ends on the field in formations as both blockers and receiving targets."The tight end role is expanded a lot from last year," Fulse said. "We're getting the ball more."And Fulse wants to be ready the next time the ball comes his way.
