Ok politicos, give me the 411
« on: January 27, 2012, 11:56:23 AM »
Since I hate liberalism/socialism, and the Republican party left me (after 9/11), I've been sort of "meh" with politics.  I used to vote straight republican tickets, not now.  That said, I've never voted for a dem except in local races.  I consider the republican party the lesser of 2 evils at this point.  As I see it the only difference in the parties now is what they want to take from you and the stated reason why.  Dem's want to take away your money and give it to those that won't earn it, while Repubs want to take your freedoms/liberties and do it in the name of physical security.   I'm a Regan Republican.

So, tell me about the Rep. candidates, good, bad, and ugly?  All opinions welcomed.  I'm looking for a Cliff's notes run down on who to vote for or not.

:)  Give me some time to get my thoughts together.  Just know to start off that Santorum needs to fall of the face of the earth, Romney is more moderate than McCain could ever be, Newt isn't as conservative as he wants you to think and Ron Paul is gold except for that whole foreign policy thing.

Some negatives on the remaining candidates:

Romney - Healthcare
Santorum - Religious hothead
Gingrich - Run-of-the-mill sleazey politician
Paul - Foreign policy

In a world where we have to pick the lesser of the evils, Ron Paul makes the most sense to me personally. While I don't agree with every stance he takes, he is probably the closest I would come to agreeing with a candidate. I like his no-nonsense approach to stuff.

Seriously the only thing keeping me from joining in the Ron Paul Revolution.  Now, I do support his stances on foreign aid and how we shouldn't be the police of the world, but to totally ignore everyone is not feasible, nor should we.

And the fact that he blames the U.S. (roughly 200 years old) for the 1500 year history of anger within the Muslim people.

And he likes to play the race card and pander to "certain" audiences with it.

FTFY...  Islam has only been around for 1300-1400 years.  Prior to that, they were a bunch of godless idol worshipers.

Actually, I was going back to the birth of Muhammed in 570. Should have put the word "roughly" in there.  But yeah, reagrdless - they have been angry long before the U.S. existed. Root cause Ron Paul, root cause please. We're just the latest pinata for them.

. . . while Repubs want to take your freedoms/liberties and do it in the name of physical security.

Given the recent passage of the updated NDA, I'm not so sure it's only the Republicans who want to do that.
