Chris Christie will not Run for President in 2012

I am just a little disappointed but I knew that he was not going to run despite the best wishes of NRO editor Bill Kristol among others (including myself).  I think he'd be a great candidate but you have to respect his reason.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie formally announced that he wasn’t going to join the presidential race on Tuesday, saying he’d come back to his original feeling about staying out despite reconsidering in recent days.

“In the end, what I’ve always felt was the right decision remains the right decision today. Now is not my time. I have a commitment to the people of New Jersey that I simply will not abandon,” Christie said, speaking to reporters in Trenton. “People sent me to Trenton to get a job done, and I’m just not prepared to walk away.”

Christie repeated that he believed that President Barack Obama has “failed the leadership test.”

I'm kind of glad. I've read some things about him lately I don't care for ala Rick Perry. Looked good from a distance, not so good up close. I'm still on the Cain train for now.

Oh, and if Bill Kristol was supporting him, then that definitely raises red flags with me. Kristol's father practically invented the modern neocon/rino movement. No thanks.

I understand what you mean; with Christie, as with many of the current contenders, you have to take the good with the bad.

Including the fact that he's fat, Snaggle.

Don't get me wrong, Herman Cain is a great candidate also; I'm glad to see him finally making some progress now.  He is, in my opinion, a political X factor meaning that it is difficult to predict how the primary and caucus voters in the early states will go.  With Cain in the top-tier mix it's hard to say how these early primaries will go but that's where the momentum starts to roll...Iowa...New Hampshire...Nevada...South Carolina; given the choice between Romney or Perry you can somewhat predict who will vote for whom, but add Cain as a top-tier candidate...now that makes it interesting.

^^^^THIS...  Every bit of it...  I really do wish Cain would step it up.  I've been a fan of his for several years.

And, it's only because I'm a racist...

We have to get it right this time. We can't keep putting duds and neocons up there like McCain, Bush and Dole. We need a Reagan or a Kennedy. A rockstar who can inspire the people and make good macro policy at the same time. Someone who makes America believe in itself again. I think Rubio fits this bill but is a couple of years away. Cain is the closest to that right now.

I think that Cain could be the man quite frankly; he is a rockstar at public speaking and he's got the intelligence and practical business experience to back it up.

But, whoever wins the nomination Rubio will be the VP...I'm making that prediction right now.
