An Offseason of Irrelevance

An Offseason of Irrelevance
« on: September 02, 2011, 10:47:36 AM »
The following topics were discussed heavily this offseason and were created through sources, insiders, insinuations, inferences, and rumors:

1.  Cam Newton was purchased by Auburn and a bagman has been identified.
2.  Tom Al-Betar provided extra benefits to Alabama football players.
3.  Willie Lyles has the info to expose LSU as blatant cheaters.
4.  Missouri, Florida St, and Clemson will accompany Texas A&M to the SEC.
5.  Trent Richardson has not practiced for Alabama due to injury or NCAA investigation.
6.  Michael Dyer has not practiced for Auburn due to NCAA investigation.
7.  Milton McGregor is heard on tape discussing Cam Newton and other players receiving improper benefits.
8.  Ohio State will be obliterated by the NCAA after they find a severe lack of institutional control.
9.  Miss State is the main target in the NCAA's investigation of Cam Newton.
10.  ETC ETC ETC

None of these stories came to fruition.  Granted, some could in the future, but as for the heavy discussion of these impending explosive stories, it's all been conjecture.

The following stories have been reported as fact with little hint or rumor beforehand:

1.  Miami and Shapiro scandal
2.  Jordan Jefferson and other players involved in a brawl
3.  Russell Shepard's illegal living situation
4.  Willie Lyles and Oregon

The point?  No one knows anything, and as a wise man once said, the loudest voice in the room is usually the one who knows least.

So as football officially starts, remember that what Finebaum and other pot stirrers discuss on Monday most likely lacks a grounding in reality.
