WOLFFORTH, TX (KCBD) -

Texas Tech football's former defensive coordinator James Willis pleaded guilty to a domestic violence charge this week.

News of the domestic violence incident became public shortly after Willis's dismissal from Texas Tech on December 25, 2010. Wolfforth police had investigated the incident on December 22. Texas Tech Coach Tommy Tuberville said that the issue of domestic violence never came up and was not the reason for his dismissal.

Willis received six months deferred probation. He must also attend anger management classes and complete 30 hours of community service.
