Yep, every single year. Sometimes shorter than others though it seems.

The correct response would have been "Wish we had him 10 years ago, then"

Wish we'd had Winter a few years ago.
Wish we'd had this coaching staff a few years ago, to go along with Derek Winter.

Like the one we have now that's had him riding the pine for 2 seasons?

Winter, a Jr in 2011, caught 3 fuckin' balls in mop up duty.  Im mising the joke.  I see prowlers attempt at baiting, but the Winter angle is a fail.

The thing is, he always catches the ball. This staff has not been a Winter fan at all. Mostly Troop. Not sure why. There were several of the Tuberville holdovers that were looked down on. Here you have a guy that when he does get to play, catches the ball. Runs excellent routes. Gets open. Yet SITS behind Kodi Burns.

That may be the biggest reason he was sitting.

Yet a man who is auditioning for MILLIONS of dollars, flies in this, "only three freaking catches" reject to help him showcase the skills that will earn him MILLIONS of dollars. And this reject does not drop a pass.

Makes you wonder WHY a true WR with his talent sat the bench?

And now, when we really need good hands on the field, this ball catching reject feels that he does not wish to come back for another season.

I did not like KB at WR. I felt he took the spot of a true WR. I will always feel that way. Up until now it was just another wasted position on the field and did not hurt us. But now, the practice of playing the "true AU man" may have run off one of our most talented WRs.

Just makes one wonder what really went on.

I'm sure we have great talent waiting in the wings. I just hope that talent can catch the ball.

Its never just as simple as the coaches getting the best players on the field is it?  Polotics, conspiracies, grudges and poor personnel decisions by this bunch of loser coaces eh?  Make sure you save all this for the "told ya Chiz really sucked" threads down the road.  The folks in the stands always know best.  And why did Winter have to be flown in to Auburn?

Hard to say.  But, I'm more of the belief that unless a player is some kind of problem off the field, the coaches are going to let the best guy play.  If Winter were all that, he would have been in there.  He may be slow.  He may not run good routes.  He may not block worth a damn.  Who knows?

I loved Kodi (Not in a manly, crossing swoards kind of way) and I think he was the inspiration most people say he was.  But hell, Rudi was an inspiration too and the ND coaches didn't give a rats ass. Was Kodi the greatest WR evah?  Nope, not by a long shot.  But he he was pretty darn good by season's end and had some huge plays for this team.  I just don't see the coaches playing him over a better WR just because he made a speech.

Rivals didnt think much of him either.  2 star 5.4 rating.  Mid major/role player type.  Derek got his degree and is moving on to grad school.  He used his time at Auburn wisely, and gets a ring too.  Great hands doesnt automatically mean great WR.

Years ago, I'm listening to the Finedong show and this card carrying member of the Mullet Nation, accent and all, was saying how Auburn couldn't win "Cause they's playin' a dang black quarterback".  He was arguing Finebung about how a black QB can't do this and that and Bamah ain't never had no black QB....and Finebum asked, "What about Walter Lewis?"

The guy says, "Walter Lewis is a full blooded Cherokee Indian".

I ran off the road and swiped a guardrail.

Kodi will be used as the example of an Auburn man for a long time to come. The TD in the BCSCG was the icing on the cake. A bootifull moment it was.
