Hell, I'd be worried too!!
Listing of Petrino's house alarms Arkansas fans
Sporting News
Thursday, May. 6, 2010 - 3:14 p.m. ET
Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino is selling his home in East Fayetteville, Ark., but the school says it's not a sign the coach is leaving the Razorbacks, the Arkansas News reports.
Pictures and a description Petrino's home, with more than 8,000 square feet and an asking price of over $2 million, were placed on a realtor's website Wednesday, according to the report. However, they were later removed after speculation about Petrino's future took off.
Petrino didn't comment Wednesday, according to the report, but the school released a statement attempting to explain the house's sale.
"Coach Petrino owns a home here in Fayetteville and he still owns a home in Atlanta," Arkansas' statement said, according to the report. "His home in Atlanta has been on the market for some time and with the market being what it is he would like to sell at least one of the homes.
"Another factor on the timing is that ... his daughter is headed to college this fall. His other children are older and at a point where they have their own residences."
The statement did not say where Petrino planned to live after selling the East Fayetteville home, the News reports.
Petrino has a reputation for changing jobs frequently, which is why the listing of his house raised concerns among Razorbacks fans. After the 2006 season, he left Louisville to coach the NFL's Atlanta Falcons. But he left Atlanta before the end of his first season there to succeed Houston Nutt at Arkansas

The idiots at nobville are worried.
Bobby is just downsizing. The house he bought when he first came to Arkansas is for sale. As is his house that he still has in Atlanta.
Since he has been here and had time to look around, he has also bought another house on Beaver Lake. That's where he's moving to.
Move along, nothing to see here.

Sure, thats we all have said. His record of these things doesn't help; you know his moving around a lot.

I really think he likes it in NWA. Why buy 2 houses there if you didn't like the place?
I won't blame him a bit if he accepts a better job. Our program will be in better shape than it was when he found it.
Where would he go? I don't think he'll go back to the pros.
We're already paying him top 10 money. I think we'll ante up to try and keep him for a while. Look for his name to be bandied about after this season.
The Florida schools are the only ones that worry me and maybe they won't have any openings for a few years.
-
He might be the coach waiting for a coach in waiting position at several schools, rumors da skreets. Then Malzahn returns to his beloved Arkansas and magically, Ryan Mallett develops more eligibility. The possibilities are endless.

Gus is the one who changes jobs bout as often as Birmingham changes draws.
I think both guys would like to get settled somewhere for a few years just to have time to develop a team. Then see what happens.
I figure we'll have Petrino longer than yall have Gus as OC. I would just as soon have Bobby's brother as our next HC. I liked the way he coached and called plays for us.

Uh...Just going to say that I believe comparing Petrino, a HC, and established HC on different levels, to a guy that is working his way up from high school and not yet achieving a HC position yet is comparing apples and oranges. In fact, didn't Gus turn down the LA Tech just this past fall?
Bad comparison...

How so?
Both men have gone from jobs to better jobs ( Gus to us from High School, Tulsa to Yall, Bobby to the pros).
Both have made lateral or lesser moves (Gus to Tulsa from us, Bobby to us from the pros).
I think they are both looking for a good fit where they can stay a few years and have a real chance to implement their schemes.
Bobby was doing that at Louisville with pretty good success until the pro dollar signs got in his eyes. Vick's problems fucked that deal up as much as anything. I think he saw the light that the pro deal wasn't really for him.
He took a cut in pay and actively sought the Arkansas job. Now that he's bought 2 houses in the state, I really don't see him leaving any time soon.
He wants to own Saban's ass before he leaves by any measure.

Circumstances play a big role in this, I think. I guess it's just my opinion, but Petrino got the hell out of Dodge because he couldn't hack the NFL and jumped at the first opportunity to bail. Good for both parties (Arky and Petrino). Not knocking him, other than he bit off way more than he could chew in the NFL, and THAT is why he made his "lesser" move. You can't say that Arthur Blank wouldn't give him the necessary tools. Nobody would bite on that one.
Malzhan went to an non-conflicted coaching staff that believed in his system. So while it was technically a "lesser" job institution wise, it was certainly a major step up in his developement of system and having control of what he did on the football field. His move was NOT a product of not being able to hack it in his past role.
I think they are both looking for a good fit where they can stay a few years and have a real chance to implement their schemes.
Something Gus couldn't do at Arkansas. Don't we all acknowledge that? He actually turned down the big promotion he's wanted (to be a HC), and a pay raise to actually do it at Auburn.
Bobby was doing that at Louisville with pretty good success until the pro dollar signs got in his eyes. Vick's problems fucked that deal up as much as anything. I think he saw the light that the pro deal wasn't really for him.
True, but part of the exact reason I think he'd leave again if the right situation presented itself.
Now that he's bought 2 houses in the state, I really don't see him leaving any time soon.

Good luck with that. :bc:
Just differing opinions I guess Tits...

I think both make the SEC West the best. And without them things get pretty dull.

I'm not worried either way. Like i said, he'll leave our program in better shape when he leaves.
He's just now getting his players in place of the ones he inherited. He's grooming a big run/pass QB that really fits his scheme. Mallett fell in Petrino's lap. He's just really one dimensional and Petrino has used that dimension to maximum effect so far.
I think we're gonna have a pretty good team next year. The year after with Mitchell and the full Pistol, we should be better.
I just see Petrino staying at least 3 more years.
-
IMO, I think Petrino hangs in there a few years too, unless an opening such as Michigan appears. I'm also not convinced that Malzahn will leave for a mid-range school just to be "the guy". It's hard for either to be fully at the controls while trying to manage overall functions, Chizik with the AU defense as an example or Pellini at Nebraska.
I think it will be interesting to see how successful AU is at QB with Newton which could trigger other talent to follow as with Mallett at Arkansas.

I think he's referring to something I haven't said yet...and that's that Malzhan would be at Auburn longer. Just my guess..
Actually, I'd love to believe that Gus will be at Auburn longer. However, I believe that BOTH are just as capable of leaving at anytime, yet for completely different motivations and reasons.
I'll pass on this one, Tits.

Hog fans are particularly sensitive to the built-in Malzahn returning Petrino leaving dilemma of the near future real or imagined. "Gimmicky" was first proposed on a Hog site (don't care to credit) as a response from an Auburn fan while discussing which coach prepares players for the pros, Petrino or Malzahn.
But it must be said that Petrino has had a somewhat better hand dealt him while Malzahn has taken less and accomplished plenty. And they do not own the same title. True Auburn wanted Petrino first but Malzahn was under the thumb of a total horses ass in Houston Nutt then effectively demonstrated his value as a play caller at Tulsa before getting free reign under Chizik. Frank Broyles snubbed Malzahn adding further insult.
Both have baggage, but if Bobby leaves Arkansas, the only way Malzahn ends up there is if they have a coronation fitting of a pope which only Saban in Tuscaloosa enjoys to date.
