You wouldn't like Ziemba when he's angry!
Kidding, he does get a little defensive though.
Lee Ziemba speaks out
Hey everyone. Offensive tackle Lee Ziemba stopped by for a chat moments ago. The interview took a turn for the terse when I asked about his penchant for penalties. His answers are blunt, revealing and important.
* On his problem with penalties in 2009: ``I didn't think they were as bad as everybody makes it seem. Watch an NFL game. How many false starts do you see? Yeah, I messed up a few times. There's a lot of factors. It's a tough thing, but we're trying to get it fixed and corrected so it doesn't happen again. It's the game of football. It's a lot tougher than people think it is. It's not easy by any stretch of the imagination."
* On if the penalty situation is overstated: ``Heck yeah. I hear it going to have supper with my girlfriend. Somebody stops me. It's ridiculous. Whatever. You get in this position, you're going to hear stuff like that. We're trying to get it fixed. I'm always trying to improve. I come here every day and work my tail end off to try and improve myself. That's my job."
* On if he feels underappreciated: ``I'm not doing it for appreciation. I'm doing it because I love playing football and I love Auburn University. I'm not doing it for anything other than that. I don't feel underappreciated. I feel good. I love being here. I wouldn't change anything about it. Yeah, I need to work on penalties. I have to work on a lot of different aspects of my game that people don't mention. It's not like I'm trying to mess up."

Well, if the fucker could learn a snap count, he wouldnt have to hear that shit. True, you do see other linemen in college and nfl do it. But how many limemen can you damn near predict will have at least one false start a game? If it were a communication problem, it would be the whole line fucking up. Not just him...over and over and over again.

One......Mark Pera, when he wasn't false starting he was getting beat by any player on the defensive side. He was absolutely fuckin' Horrible. I'd like to find him and Shithead from Centerpoint and beat the shit out of both. Also, if it came down to it and they were on fire, I'd piss on them...but not enough to put the flames out, just enough to say I'm pissing on you while you're burning alive.
^^That's what I'd say...
...took a turn for the terse.
Z Dawg held that shit back.

Is Lee Zeimba gonna hafta choke a bitch?
I don't think he was as bad last year as he was in 2008. After the Ball State game, I don't recall him having more than 1 flag. Andrew McClain picked up the slack. Every false start after that game was called against #75 it seemed.

I didn't think he was as bad in 2009 as he was in 2008, but i was drunk most of the season and don't really remember much of any of the games. Does anyone have have any stats to show if he improved or not from 08 to 09?

As I've mentioned before, my daughter -- nine at the time -- saw pro team playing, heard them call False Start and absently said "Dang it, Ziemba" or something to that effect.
I can't remember the story and I don't feel like looking it up, but that's the gist.
Now if a nine year old little girl recognizes that "false start" and "Ziemba" are synonymous... well.... he can get just as mad as he wants to.

Word. I didn't even have to listen to the ref to know who he was calling. The fact that the reporter singled him out as having "issues" says quite clearly that "dude, you got issues". 87K+ notwithstanding, how hard it is to listen to a fucking snap count?

I think what made him better his first season was that the offense was more in tune to what was happening. His game was handling DEs. To do that, you have to be quicker and faster than the DE. To do that, you got to get a jump on the count. 2008, he could not use that to his advantage because there really was no continuity on offense. Last season he was much better. It seemed the whole offense was much better, I expect to see him shine this season. As a former QB, I try to never bash the fatboys. They can get your ass killed in a heartbeat. But for 2008, he was a one man flag machine. For him to say any different is just a little ridiculous.
