I was reading a short Q&A with Roof on AUC.

Most of it was fairly routine chit chat, but I did like this one answer and wonder how it will play out on the field next year.

AUC: You have a reputation as an aggressive coach. Would you anticipate a more aggressive defense next season?

ROOF: “I certainly hope so. It depends on the ability level and the skill level of our players. I would love to blitz every down. We are discussing now how we can be more aggressive. We have to. You also do what the personnel dictates. You have a package within your system that adapts to what your people do well. You want to be aggressive, but at the same time you want to be smart. You have to pick and choose. Sometimes the situation in the game dictates that as well.”

I certainly hope so. What we havent seen yet at Auburn is the aggressiveness that Roof has been noted for. His statements make sense as far as personnel, but this is probably not a popular statement with some Auburn fans after last year.

This is the reason for last year's (lack of) performance.  Making do with what you've got is not easy.  here's hoping he gets a chance to do some things this year with some fresh blood.

I know one Auburn fan and another fan that pretends to be for Auburn, that thinks this is never a popular statement...never ever, no matter what.

With some depth we might return to the Chizik/Gibbs/Muschamp days but I don't think of Roof as a Joe Lee Dunn kamikaze type. It will be nice to see some new blood develop with the base we have.
