Anyone think anything significant comes out of this?
I did notice one fact I didn't know. The football program was last sanctioned in 2001 for various violations. If they find them responsible for any of the Bush stuff, it would fall within the 5 year "repeat offender" time frame, which could make things interesting.
It's not the popular opinion, but I don't see any reason why the NCAA would let them off should they find something. People point to money, but I have yet to have someone make a direct correlation of how USC on probation for a few years hurts the NCAA financially in a significant way.
TV deals are negotiated and signed with conferences. Bowls are not sanctioned by the NCAA. The NCAA makes a ton off the CBS NCAA basketball tournament TV deal. But I'm not sure how USC directly helps the NCAA make money in a significant way.
And if that's the case, why would they avoid bringing down the hammer if that's what's warranted?

So you think nothing at all? No reduction in scholarships for a few years, no forfeiture of wins? Nothing?
I don't know that I think they'll get a TV ban, but I'd be surprised if they get absolutely nothing. One of the "agent" guys is adamant that Bush's position coach knew of their relationship and some of the dealings. If that's true, something will have to come up it. Or not, either way, I knew it before the "trial" started.

Basketball will bear the brunt and cover the football program. Football will get a mild slap on the wrist and nothing else.

Agreed.
And the "mild slap" would actually hurt most programs. I bet they lose 5-7 scholarships. Maybe 10.
Still, when you've got 65 four stars or better anyway, you're not going to feel the heat from losing 10 scholarship. You'll also have practice squad guys who are good athletes and are just dying to be part of the USC program.

I think it takes another 6-8 weeks for anything to be made public, so I wouldn't look for any kind of immediate results. I'm sure something will leak out, though.
