Title: Amateur Meteorologists
Post by: Saniflush on February 12, 2010, 10:37:30 AM
Any of you fuckers from over in Alabama like the Ham, Gadsden, Anniston, gimme some weather updates.  i gotta start deciding whether to tell my second shift to stay home.  My inclination is to tell them that but it has not started doing anything here in West Georgia as of yet.

I'm perched in my office in Irondale at the moment.  No snow yet, and we were supposed to have 2-4 inches by noon.  I'd piss them off and call them in.

That's kinda what I am thinking.  Hasn't done shit here yet and everyone is thinking three day weekend.

Fuck'em.  If I don't get it neither do they.

I am in downtown Birmingham and have been looking out the window all morning for the snow, but haven't seen the first flake yet...other than the rest of this bunch in my building.
It's a good thing they cancelled school today though.  :taunt:

I'd call 'em in.

That's my line of thinking as well.  Not even so much as one snowflake has dropped here.

I'm going to find James Spann and kick his ass.

how much snow are you expecting?

if it's advisory amounts i lean towards...come in if you feel comfortable driving.  most field operations will cease but we have work at the main facility.  typically, we'll get about 65% of the people...more like 85% if it's pay day or near the holidays.

What does Delta say.  3 day weekend? I have a 3 day weekend, I will be honoring my past presidents by sleeping late and possibly going fishing.

Already tried the earlier flight deal.  You know how many motherfuckers have been trying to get earlier flights since yesterday at noon?

What's so funny, is that it's only 1 - 2 inches of snow expected.  People in the south are retarded sometimes.

Professional meteorologists should know not to say things like "100% chance"

Because when what they said was certain DOESN'T happen, those fucks don't have to deal with crestfallen ten year olds.

That is THE Saniflush.

We, no shit, got 14 inches of snow yesterday. Damndest thing I have ever seen. I have been outside with the kids playing in it all morning!

But I am 900 miles from you so this probably doesn't help...

You might want to stock up on bourbon (*edit: and cigars) for the weekend...eggs, milk, bread, and bottled water have already sold out in Cobb County.

I have a decision to make myself.  I just let one of my guys go home, because his wife's place of business closed down for the day at 12:00.  The other guy I have working for me is an old codger who wouldn't leave unless the building was on fire.

Do I:
a)  Leave and tell him he's on his own if he wants to stay.
b)  Set the building on fire.

The correct answer on this one is C) Both.

Negative ghost rider.  You assumed Delta because I used them as an example.

Already got plenty of bourbon, beer, and frozen pizza.   That's about the same as bread, milk, and batteries right?

frozen pizza is useless if the electricity teh blows...gas lines freeze and no matches.  enjoy the beer and bourbon.

Sun is out and its gone .

I still think you have a 40% chance, only because of where you are flying too. Looking at your flight it looks like it isn't coming from anywhere else.
Title: Re: Amateur Meteorologists
Post by: Saniflush on February 12, 2010, 02:12:33 PM
It is ALWAYS coming from somewhere else.  Atlanta will just happen to be where the previous flight terminates before the next one starts 90 minutes later.  Not over yet.

Looking at Delta's site (same trip route) most of theirs are canceled, although two of their flights later tonight are still scheduled.

I am going to adjust my percent to 30.

True although if that were the case I would think it would be canceled by now.

See my prior post Delta has already canceled most of theirs including the one leaving at 7:55pm

Airtran is half a heartbeat away from "landing in the Everglades" again.  Now that is a flying shitbox of an airlines.

I would go make xerox copies of your penis.  In your case make sure you utilize the enlarge feature on the copier.

Alright.  Not canceled yet.  I am leaving for the airport right now.  Will holla and let you know what is going on.

Down to flurries in Pell City and the sun is starting to break through the clouds. Wound up with just over 2" of global warming with this one.

It's already starting to melt - pretty rapidly.

Been snowing pretty much all day in my part of Irondale.  There's an approximate two inches of snow on the ground.  It's slowed down within the past hour and has now stopped completely.

I'm going to run outside and mushroom tap the neighbors' cars before it all melts away.  Maybe stick in a few pine needles where the ball imprints are for an artistic touch.
