I was looking over APR scores for Alabama since Saban has been there, and came across some staggering numbers...
APR scores of University of Alabama football team:
2006 - APR 916 - before Saban
2007 - APR 942
2008 - APR 944
2009 - APR 955
Such a dramatic difference in that number would indicate that either Saban takes academics EXTREMELY seriously (which there is direct evidence against, like Mount Cody not knowing his own major), OR he's cheating academically, and apparently dramatically.
I'd state that such a massive improvement that quickly is ONLY attainable through a systemic program designed to improve grades, and thus implemented by Saban. If it were a legal system then he should be commended, however, there is direct evidence of systemic academic fraud during his time at LSU. LSU had similar dramatic improvement such as this on Saban's first trip through the SEC... This dramatic improvement at LSU was obtained by ACADEMIC FRAUD and by APPLYING PRESSURE TO TEACHERS FOR GRADES. Athletes were getting their papers written for them and notes were being taken for athletes by people within the athletic department...
LSU officials meet with NCAA over academic fraud allegations
LSU's investigation has focused on the Academic Center for Athletes and the kinesiology department. Kinesiology is a popular major among football players.
The investigation began in January shortly after Roger Grooters, who was named executive director of the academic center last summer, noticed irregularities at the center and alerted LSU officials.
The investigation did not go public until March when word leaked to the media that an unidentified kinesiology instructor had complained to LSU's human resources department that she was pressured to give football players favorable treatment.
That kinesiology instructor, Tiffany Mayne, went public Friday when she filed a lawsuit against LSU, alleging she was pressured by kinesiology department superiors to ``get on the team'' and allow activities by football players that Mayne thought were improper.
Mayne said in the lawsuit that athletes in one of her classes in the spring 2001 semester were accompanied by students not in the class who told her they were note takers for the athletes. Mayne reported this to kinesiology department head Amelia Lee, who said the note takers were arranged through the academic center.
Kinesiology graduate student Caroline Owen filed a lawsuit on March 21 in which she said papers she graded appeared to be copied. She brought this to Lee's attention but said Lee told her to keep it quiet because it involved football players.
Other allegations of possible NCAA violations LSU's investigation has examined include tutors and academic center employees providing too much help to athletes, athletes taking unsupervised tests at the academic center and athletes asking academic center employees to type papers for free.

It is after all ABOUT CLASS. Do you get credit for showing up nowadays? I had a prof that attended all of 3 classes back when Jesus was a carpenter.

What's wrong with the thread? (at least up to the point that you voted to end it).
The opening babble about "better APR scores = cheating" was useless to me. However, the info about Saban's time at LSU was pretty interesting, and quite a bit more credible since includes actual NCAA investigation and lawsuits. The LSU info then piques my interest in the Alabama APR scores a little more.
That's worth discussing, at least to some extent.

So, where should Alabama's APR score be? What is the break point where it becomes cheating?
