Title: James Willis Visiting Lubbock
Post by: RWS on January 12, 2010, 01:58:15 PM
Apparently Willis and his family will visit the Texas Tech campus and area sometime over the next few days. He should end up being DC for CTT. I don't see him turning it down. Good luck to him!

I thought that I read where the Texas Tech admin was going to make Tubs keep the current assistants?

I think that was in the same rumor that said CTT had turned down the job. CTT has hired Troy's OC, and will not retain the current DC.

ILB coach.

Most of the staff yes, but the OC and DC will be new.  They didn't really have a OC, it was all Leach.  And McNeal (the interim head coach) was the DC, he's not being retained (probably by his own call).

I think it just said that he was not "officially" bringing anyone with him as part of his contract/deal.  Nothing says he can't hire if there is a vacancy.

Man, the Troy guy learned nothing from The Tony Franklin Experiment.  :wtf:

He was mentored by Franklin before the Franklin/AU experiment.

Yeah, wtf is that about?

So the bad blood apparently wasn't between Tuberville & Franklin?...Interesting...

Uhh....yeah. It was between Franklin and Nall and most of the offensive staff. I think Eddie Gran was originally in the TF camp, but the majority prevailed. Wasn't it obvious? The line was playing a totally different game than the rest of the offense that half season. After Vanderbilt, who knows wtf was going on out there.

Yes it was obvious. It was also obvious that the OL came out in 08 weighing about 30-40 lbs less on average that the rest of the SEC.

Yes, that was a Franklin thing. Never understood that either. But it is widely known that Nall refused to coach Franklin's scheme.

Between him and Nall, Stinkfinger and Knox. Gran's a good dude IMO.

I forgot about him. Must have been due to the fact that besides getting his son a scholly as a QB, I had no fucking idea what his purpose was.

Oh, that's right. He was TE coach. Tommy Trott benefited from that tutelage. Not even gonna mention his interim OC moments.
