That's lost on a lot of people. Don't get me wrong, I realize Prowler is simply trying to get a jab in at Bama, but Cofuck would have done the exact same piece had Auburn won the championship instead of Alabama.
That's the perception they have of the state. I realize Alabama has a lot of redneck fans. I see them, I know they exist. BUT, I see many, many more completely normal fans than I do the mullets with no teeth. Yet, those are the ones you see in the national media, because that's what the national media wants Alabama people to look like. Back wood inbreds who do not have money for dental insurance.
I won't watch another episode of that lanky, pale-skinned, red-headed fuck. He shouldn't be allowed to grace the same stage or time slot as Carson.

Conan's a tool bag. Also looks like there's a good chance that Leno is moving back to his 1030 CT time slot. His show is killing Conan in his old slot. Go figure.

Wrong there. Anywhere I go in this state and I spend a lot of time on the road, the Wal-Mart jersey wearing dipshits outnumber the regular guys 20-1.

LOL. I think it's absolutely hilarious that the first thing that comes to mind, of those from outside the State, is that the bammers are a bunch of COPS Show appearances, wife beatin', mullet having, retards that wear Got 13? t-shirts, pieces of shit.

I get what you're saying, but I really don't think so.
I think nationally people hear "University of Alabama" and then they go straight to the toothless redneck stereotypes. It may not be for the same reasons I do, but Alabama's right there in the name, so it's easy to make the connection to the state and take a jab. If the headline is Auburn University wins the National Championship, I don't think the same stigma is there. It's like if the Indiana Hoosiers won, you may hear something about midwest corn fuckers, but you wouldn't hear the same about Notre Dame, even though they share a state.

I see your point and you're probably right. Even so, Conan's comment was "they entire state of Alabama was celebrating". That got us all, regardless of how we in the state dissect it.
I do a lot of work out of state. Every time I'm asked where I'm from I get the same comments. "Wow, I thought you guys were fatter and had less teeth." No mention of football whatsoever. They believe the state of Alabama are a bunch of racist, fat, broke, toothless bastards. We have people in our state meeting that criteria, but no more than Mississippi or Arkansas. People act like their shocked that I can speak proper english, for no other reason than "I'm from Alabama". It's a bullshit stereotype, which is really my only point.

Conan probably doesn't even know where Auburn is. Georgia, maybe?

No more than any state in the union, I'd argue. I've lived in other states including the north, and visited plenty more. Yeah, a lot of states have their big cities, but drive 2 hours out and you'll see more overweight toothless morons than you typically do around here (at least the parts of Alabama I've lived in). The only difference is they don't have southern accents.
-
In other parts of the country, Auburn is not directly associated with the state. Instead of Notre Dame, Purdue may be a better analogy regarding name recognition without necessarily recognizing exact geographic location.
I've always thought it is ironic that mouth-breathing high school dropout bammers think they are superior to "barners", yet I've been to meetings in the far corner of the country and had a client acknowledge the reputation of Auburn when they ask where I earned my engineering degree. Many times, I don't correct people if they think Auburn's actually in Georgia.

I was in my neighborhood Kroger today, and saw this exact person wearing a bammer sweatshirt - in MY Kroger!! Now, to be fair, she wasn't EXACTLY toothless - she had at least one for every NC they claim. Her husband was wearing the requisite NASCAR gear. Pretty much covered the stereotype. I do hope they were just long haul truckers passing through...
