What do you say for 2010? 9-3? 8-4? 10-2? It's never too early to start talking about it, especially since moving on from Alabama's 2009 title is my New Year's resolution.

I think all of the games you listed (along with Clemson) are possible losses, but just like this past year, I don't see us losing all of the possible losses. If there are 6 toss ups, don't you figure we win at least 3 of them? Which would put us at least at 8-4.
Beat North Carolina in the Peach Bowl and go 9-4. Not too bad.
Personally I think we are likely to win 3 of those 5 games, meaning we should go 9-3. Beat Wisconsin in the Capital One bowl to go 10-3. Pretty good.
Your 7-5 is if things just flat out go bad....unlucky for us.

And a Arkansas team that is going to lose Mallet?

Mallett has announced he is staying. He will regret that next year, but whatever. I'm a little perplexed at thinking you guys will lose to Ole Miss when Snead is leaving. I know he's not the greatest, but damn. But then again, AU will be breaking in a new starting QB as well.

We will, but if the next QB can't produce equal to or better than Todd....well, I don't know what to say.
Mississippi State is losing Dixon too...I'm not sure why they'll be a whole lot better than this year. They'll probably be somewhat better, just being in that system for year, but losing Dixon is huge in my opinion.

I think Auburn loses one unexpectedly (MSU) and wins one unexpectedly (LSU). My thoughts in January before I've seen any of the recruits come or the spring game.

Thanks, must have missed that somewhere down the line.

I'm going for three losses only counting on the influx of talent being brought in where no less than eight to ten JC and true freshmen contribute. I know I'm banking on them to gel quickly and I think it easier to meld them into the offense as opposed to defense. We have some talented ends and backers for depth. Freshmen normally get eaten alive at corner, safety much easier. I'm actually impressed with defensive backfield but not the consistency of the linebackers as pass defenders. Interior DL needs the most help IMO. Corners give too much space and get turned around too often.
On offense there doesn't seem to be an everyday back among the scholarship players. Don't like RB by committee so depending on Dyer to bring the most and it might be too much to ask. Hey there might be another who can tote it better. We must have a deep threat and an arm that the opposition respects. The OL should be the strong suit. I mean, so much is dependent upon staying healthy, grades etc..but we have seen what one season can bring and I think it reasonable to expect some improvement even without your starting QB and RB. I just said that and I can't believe I said it but I think the spread is more forgiving to youth than other systems.
Special teams should improve as punter could return to old form and place kicker a huge plus.
Losses to Arkansas and Alabama and either LSU or Georgia but not both

Glad to see your expectations for Chizik have improved from last year...unfortunately for you, he will far exceed them again.

Come on man, leave greaseybammer alone. His team is just one day removed from winning the Mythical National Championship*....Hell, I'm surprised he isn't at the MM AD Complex waiting for his team to arrive.

Hmmm I recall I said 3 wins last year. I'm saying 3 again this year. When yu look at last year the bastard won somw games but still showed nothing in coaching ability. I am past waiting on him to leave. I'm just sitting back and watching the program burn to the ground now.

Pat Dye has already predicted a step backward next year. Don't know if he's trying to cover his ass or just downplay expectations.
A step backward would not sit well with many.

If we don't win 9 the seasons a failure in my book.

Where did he say this? Curious as to why he thinks that. It would suck, definitely.

He said it on Finebaum four or five times. I don't remember when. I don't normally listen, but the radio's tuned there when I leave work and sometimes I catch five minutes or so before I realize what I'm listening to and change the channel.

I've heard him say it. You never know with Pat Dye. Sometimes he's trying to downplay expectations so that it looks better when we win. Sometimes he's telling the truth. Sometimes's he's drunk.
Townhallsavoy says there should be no step backward next season. Offense should be more consistent and less "score two touchdowns REALLY fast then nothing." Defense should be a serious upgrade.
