As long as I've been alive, I've watched some football programs lie, cheat and steal their way to the top. Most are about as truthfully allied with the schools that sponsor them as Tiger Woods is allied with Gatorade. It's a money-making proposition and little else. These programs care nothing about academic integrity, nothing about anything other than their football programs. As such, and when their power waxes, they skew the dynamic and force other programs to either change what they are at their core or risk falling behind.
Some programs that fit this mold are USC, Alabama, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Miami.
What if the NCAA excluded these type programs (say 20 or so) from competition and allowed them to form their own Super Conference with no admission requirements, no academic policies, no recruiting restrictions. If USC wants Reggie Bush to play, they can give him a million dollar mansion and a fleet of cars and nobody cares. They, in essence, become NFL factories.
Then the rest of the programs can return to true scholar-athlete competition as it was intended to be.
Ok. I'm clearly too drunk to post.

I was on the Auburn Rugby team and it was a club sport. Only requirement was to pay 40 bucks in dues and be a student at Auburn. Turn Football team into a club team and lots of rules would fly out the window. Might work in a Bizzaro world.

So you have had your two beers for the night?

Take it a step farther and let a pro team subsidize things. Minor league as it were. Let the schools vote/lobby/bid on who wanted in a deal like this versus being in the NCAA. One college team per NFL team. Each NFL team gets to adopt one college as a minor league program with those players going to that pro team when they graduate as their first option. The pro team could still swap/trade players upon graduation. No early outs.
It would be badass for the pros and top level football programs.
The ones not affiliated could then have a real championship and the farm teams could keep the major bowl games.

Yep, two's the limit.

This isn't a popular subject but since you brought it up, Auburn's been on probation more than most of the teams you listed. Including Alabama. Wondering if they are to be included in the Super Collegiate NFL league you're creating.

Because Auburn probation was generally orchestrated by the cheatingest, lyingest, drunken bastard in the history of college football. Why? Because at heart the old fuck was a chickenshit who was afraid that he couldn't win when there was legitimate competition.
He was a pussy.

Do you need a tin foil hat or a tissue?
Neither. You need to take off the houndstooth glasses.

Alabama came closest to SMU in the death penalty category while Auburn leads by frequency.
Happy Holidays! :sword:
