This website fails to mention that the Hawaii Bowl features A FREE VACATION TO HAWAII.

And the t-shirt.  Hells yes.

Sugar Bowl. A Lane recliner? How you get that shit on the plane. I guess they'll be taking a cargo plane home while riding in style.

Alamo. Ipod touch and Dr. Dre headphones.

GMAC. Mini camcorder. Cool.

The Bowls are allowed a certain amount of money to purchase gifts for each player traveling.

You're right.  Also the gifts are for all of the student trainers and student equipment managers as well.  Each school is also allowed a certain amount of money to spend on the student athletes, trainers, and managers for gifts as well.  I feel kind of jipped that all we got from the bowl game I was in was a fossil watch, a shitty mp3 player, and some shirts and jackets.  While the school bought us rings and more clothes.  The amount of per diem money that you get is really nice though.

The per diem money is based off of....traveling distance from your home, correct?  Like, for instance Auburn going to Tampa, player A that's from Illinois gets more per diem money than player B that's from the Tampa area.

That's the "reimbursement" for travel money, but yes you're correct it's a per mile.  Most player's will carpool to save that money up.  If the bowl game is far away like ours was out in San Jose or the like Alabama's is in Pasadena then the local players (and by local I mean from AL, GA, FL, TN) the university will charter a plane and the players won't get the reimbursement and they will buy the non-local players a plane ticket to the game destination.  The per diem that you get while at the game during the week is the same for all players, that's different.  If I remember correctly we ended up getting around $400 for the week.

Also the number of meals not provided by the University. Way back in 2001 you got $6 for breakfast, $10 for lunch and $18 for dinner. Keep in mind that was at Troy but it gives you some idea.

If you are driving, you get the distance from your home to the bowl destination, or from auburn to the bowl destination, whichever is higher.

Most players carpool and bank the money the received. Guys like Josh Bynes will get the money from Auburn to Tampa, while players like Jay Wisner will get the money from Montana to Tampa (lucky him).
