Title: Houston Nutt to Kansas?
Post by: Townhallsavoy on December 07, 2009, 06:29:47 PM
http://www.kansascity.com/news/breaking_news/story/1616064.html (http://www.kansascity.com/news/breaking_news/story/1616064.html)

No need to quote the article.  It just says he's interested and he's spoken with Kansas.

Of course, there has been the obligatory refute from Ole Miss.

This isn't good.  What if Ole Miss hires someone who knows how to win with 26 running backs???

You mean it's not Julio?

By the way, this makes me glad that we no longer have a coach that is represented by Jimmy Sexton.

Was thinking the exact same thing last night when I'd heard that he was looking at Kansas.

Instead, you have a coach that only Iowa State (sort-of) and Auburn wanted. Congratulations.

In typical RWS douche canoe fashion...

The obligatory shot at someone NOT related to the thread, by bring up another comparison not related to the thread.

This is the equivalent of Egon and Ray crossing the vinegar streams causing a catostrophic explosion of douchetastic ectoplasm all over the fucking place.

Somebody else pointed out that AU now has a coach that other programs wouldn't be interested in on a yearly basis. I simply pointed out the irony in that statement.

P.S. Your post really wasn't as clever as you think it is.

You made the comparison... You were a douche about it as usual.

P.S.  Either was yours.

I think you misunderstood my post.  Around every December, Tuberville's name started popping up for different head coaching vacancies.  Every year there would be an article in the Bamaham News about whether or not Tuberville was staying at Auburn.  Most people felt that it was Jimmy Sexton pimping him out for another raise and extension.  I got tired of it, and I think most Auburn fans did too.

I never mentioned Chizik, nor did I say that we have a coach that other programs won't be interested in on a yearly basis.  That was you putting your bammerish words in my mouth.

Now, kindly go fuck yourself.

I understood your post just fine. So, why would you hear those rumors around each December? Because CTT was a commodity, and other teams wanted him. Otherwise, what other leverage would Sexton have in "pimping him out"? That was my point. I'm aware CTT's name got brought up in alot of searches. Its because he's a good coach. He was a hot name. Everybody knew it. My point is, AU has things other than a non-Sexton client working in its favor in that department. Chizik doesn't hold the same status as Tuberville did.

So, by comparison, you're saying that Houston Nutt is a hot commodity?

Compared to Chizik? Yes. Compared to CTT? No. As in the hunt for a coach for Kansas? Look at it relative to Kansas. I mean, seriously, look who they had.

Nobody but you mentioned Chizik in this thread.  The point was that Sexton was busily pimping Tubs' name out there every year, just as he is most likely doing with Nutt.  That is all.

My point was there are things in Tubs and Nutt's favor that makes them attractive to other schools. Thats why Sexton was able to pimp them out. Nutt would be a better fit outside of the SEC, I think. But, think about this. Ole Miss got creamed by MSU in the Egg Bowl. How likely is Ole Miss to give him a raise and/or extension right now if another school comes calling?

Maybe they realize that they are Ole Miss, and that if they lose Nutt, they may have to go back to another Orgeron-style of coach.  I think Nutt is about as good as Ole Miss can do.

About as likely as it is for another school to come calling.  If Kansas made the first contact...or any contact yet for that matter, I would truly be shocked.

What was Tubs record against Nutt?

Chiz 1-0 as a HC, 3-1 total (HC + DC combined)

But thats neither here nor there.

And I see the point he was making. Sexton - I do not care for. Really doesnt have anything to do with CNS, CTT, CHN or CGC. I just think the dude is a money whore who plays on fear to get it. Just my opinion. I just dont like the guy.

Nutt needs to stay there. I know he's beat us twice, but I think that is over with. With all the praise he has gotten from the Ole Miss fans, he is 9-7 in the SEC in two years and losing a bunch of talent this year. The longer he stays there, the worse they get.

I agree.  Even with the hype and the winning, look at their current class.  They have 11 commitments as of now and are ranked #42 by Rivals (6 spots behind State).  Now I know Nutt can sigh 57 guys in a 6 day span, but still, it's not September anymore, and as of now they have exactly ONE commit that is rated higher than a 77 (on ESPN).  Even Mississippi State has 6.

Off Topic:

MSU received a commitment from a player, over a week ago, that's BIGGER than Cody.

James Carmon (http://rivals.yahoo.com/mississippistate/football/recruiting/player-James-Carmon-95175) DT 6'7" 370lbs. Gulf Coast C.C. (Dec. graduate)
