"There's not going to be any pressure," said quarterback Greg McElroy, who will be making his first Iron Bowl start. "It's just going to be the same old team that we played last year. It's just another team. It can't be made out to be anything more than that.

Arenas may have inadvertently given Auburn some bulletin-board material when trying to make the point that growing up in Florida he didn't know anything about Alabama or Auburn. "When I heard Carnell Williams went to Auburn, I thought it was a Division III school," he said.

Wait, wasn't Aranus biggest and best offer from FIU, until someone from FL told Shula about him? I wonder how it feels knowing that in his career that he will have only beat that D-III school twice at best?

What do you want McElroy to say? "OMG, this is the BIIIIIIGGEST game of our season!!!" While this game may be everything to AU's season, Alabama has bigger fish to fry. I like the mentality they are taking towards it. They are taking the rivalry out of their heads, and using the simple logic of this is an everyday game. This is the next game on our schedule, and winning the other 11 games doesn't mean anything unless we win this one. Or the next. Or the next. I don't want them completely fixated this game and blowing their wad on it.
Like I said, this game is EVERYTHING to AU. No SEC game, no BCS bowl, nothing on the immediate horizon. For Alabama, its just one piece of the puzzle. We are two games away from a national championship appearance. We will have to go through Auburn to get there, though. I like their mentality right now. Its the same way they went into last year's IB thinking, and it seemed to work out OK.

:bamahomer:
You're the same guy that was outraged when Tate dared to say he thought he was the best back in the state, right? And what exactly did you expect him to say? "OMG, Ingram is the BESSSSSSST back in the state!!!"

Fuck that Daywalkin' sumbitch

No, and I said I didn't expect him to say that then. If you want to see how you're supposed to handle such a question, go see what Ingram says about Tate and his comments. THAT is how you are supposed to answer a question designed to lure you into a stupid statement.

You try so hard to come across without sounding cocky, yet I have found that it is virtually impossible for you to ever do so.
To look at this game as "another piece of the puzzle" is to disrespect one of the greatest rivalries of the state of Alabama and the nation, and to lesson the importance of what winning means to each fanbase for an entire year. I can understand that Alabama has different goals then Auburn does, but you cannot honestly say that this game is to be considered as an "everyday game" EVER by either team. If our teams were to swap positions, you can guarandamntee that I would be worried about this game and I would coach my players up to treat it as such.
But you Bammers waltz on in Jordan-hare with your condescending cocky attitude...we may not win, but we'll never lose respect for what this game means and how it is to be viewed. And if we do win...you guys are just setting it up to be all the better.

Yet, McElroy and Arenas said that out of their own volition without being baited, and they answer this way.
Whatever, :bamahomer: .

You should throw a "bitch" into there, just for good measure.

I want my team to play damn good ball, no matter if its against UTC or Florida. I don't want them to play down to one team, but play up to another. I want them to go in and beat the living dogshit out of every team they play. Thats fine that you want this game to be the only thing Alabama has to play for too. Its not. Its almost as if since this is the only thing AU has this season, you want it to be that way for Alabama too. The SECCG is more important than the Iron Bowl. The BCSCG is more important than the Iron Bowl. If Alabama wins the Iron Bowl, then thats great. But if we go on and lose to UF, then really, what does it matter? We get to harass AU fans for a whole new year, but guess what? UF fans get to harass us for a whole new year.
Its funny, when AU was beating us into the ground six years in a row, it was ok for you guys to talk about how playing Alabama was hurting AU's SOS. It was funny because you guys just knew you were going to win. All of it was just a big laugh when AU was winning. But its all of the sudden not so funny when AU isn't guaranteed a win anymore.
-
EAR-regardless of all this...if they kickoff or punt to Javier Youranus...you will see a large slow white man bum rush the field and slap Corch Boulware upside his bowling ball noggin.
-
It isn't impossible...but, I hope the SPuat players feel that it is. In fact, I hope that some of the players feel that this is the same Auburn team that they faced last year. I also hope that they don't think 87,000+ fans will affect their abilities to call plays and/or communicate on the field.
Wait for it.........
Wait for it.....................
*BOOM SHAKALAKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

Saban Almighty disagrees with RWS (and McElroy).

That's the plan for Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban. As a poster in Auburn's weight room has reminded Tigers players, Saban said during his introductory press conference: "We have an opponent in this state that we work every day, 365 days a year, to dominate."

What? Seriously. See also, Bammerus Inbredicus.
Indeed! You are not a message board poster...you are living, breathing stereotype. Incredible.
The Iron Bowl is yet a component of our season that has already exceeded my expectations. I saw us going 6-6 and now we will most likely go 7-5 and to a better bowl (God willing). Many of us didn't expect that to happen. As much as you'd like to think that the Iron Bowl "is the only thing AU has this season", truthfully, it's not. I know you hate that it doesn't all revolve around your glorious season, but you must adjust your thinking. There are other things going on here...building recruiting credibility being one of them.
I'm simply pointing out that nobody on either side should lesson the importance of the greatest football rivalry in our nation. If Auburn folks were bitching about Bammer lessening SOS, then that's their fault for being dumbasses. You can rest assured that I didn't give a shit during those 6 years...when it was Iron Bowl week, all I wanted was to administer an ass whuppin of epic proportions.
And now Chizad posts your almight $abahr saying something opposite of your line of thinking!!!! Oh no...go repent, RWS...let me hear 5 Hail Sabans.
-
Tough to say those while your tongue is probing Saban's poop shute.

Not just that, but since his birth in October 1987, his precious State University mega power football teams is 9-13 against this D-III "nobody" school.
For every Alabama fan born since Bryant retired, what % knows they have a losing record against Auburn (15-11) during their lifetime? 5%, 10%? Probably not even that many.
Ugh, that is easily the most annoying part of their arrogance...the fact that it's so tightly wrapped up in ignorance. There is not a more irritating combination of traits than arrogance and ignorance.

That's the "cat's ass" that we almost always get from New Braunfels. The guy just has a way of getting it right.
