Title: Advice needed
Post by: Ogre on November 11, 2009, 05:15:50 PM
I am in a College Fantasy Football league.  There is a significant amount of money involved.  Currently I'm tied for first place, and this is the last week of the regular season.  AJ Green is one of my WR's, and he was quoted on a radio station in Atlanta today stating that he was 100% and ready to go for our game this weekend.

The logical side of my brain says I should start him against our 2 Freshmen safeties and overall weak pass defense.  The passionate fan side of my brain says I can't start him because he's playing against Auburn, and I'm afraid that if he has a monster game against us that my brain might explode.

What would you do in my situation?  I'll hang up and listen.

Start him.

No emotion or thought that you have will affect his play.  He's either going to suck, or he's going to be amazing.  The odds say to start him.

Just pray we go up 35-0 at the half so Joe Cox can fling the ball around all 2nd half.

I should probably mention that I have the following WR's on my roster:

Marty Gilyard - Cincinnati
Greg Silas - Hawaii
Austin Pettis - Boise State
Darvin Adams - Auburn

I'm for sure going to start Gilyard and Silas, and my last spot will come down to Pettis, Adams, or Green.

Start him.

Your goal is for Auburn to beat Georgia.

Your other goal is to make money in your league.

There is no reason both goals cannot be met.

It's not personal, it's business.

Nothing wrong with hoping Georgia has 300 pass yards (all to Green) and -15 rushing yards, as we crush them 42 to 24 (three TDs by Green).

Definitely start. If we win and he has a good game then you win twice in the day. If we lose and he has a good game then at least you have that going for you. If we win and he dies in the first 5 seconds then you still get to be happy for Auburn at the expense of your fantasy land team.

Knowing the new information, maybe go with Pettis.

Idaho (Boise's opponent) is 7-3, but they're giving up over 31 points per game.

I won't lie, it's a tough one.

OK... I know nothing about fantasy football.  So if I commented it would just sound like the paul fbomb show.

I'll just read.

as many of you know i'm a fantasy guru...

just look @ my record and earnings if you don't believe me.  my picking skills have been a bit deflated this football season; perhaps, i haven't recovered from finishing second in the  "battle for the crown" after falling from 1st as a result of the bowl games.

with that said...if you tie...your ass will get trumped with some obscure tie break system.  see tigersx fantasy baseball 2008.

anyhoo...i advise not starting him.

Honestly, I'm not sure you could go wrong starting either Green or Adams.  I think they will both get their yards on Saturday night.  I'm not convinced that UGA's defense is any better than Auburn's.
