If you don't have kids, or don't like 80s music, skip this post!!!!
We took the kiddos to see Imagination Movers on Sunday afternoon. The Movers, for those of you who do not know, do kid songs based on music from the 80s and 90s, so adults do not want to stick pencils in their ears when listening to the CDs for the 11th straight hour. They are heavily influenced by Beastie Boys, Big Country, Dash Rip Rock (their tour drummer played in DRR), and other similar artists. The guys are all married with kids, are in their late 30s and are HOT. I am totally a Mover Mom. They are from New Orleans and now have a show on Playhouse Disney that is excellent, and not just for little kids. The music really is incredible.
But I digress...
Anywho, at one point Sunday, they broke into a little KISS music, slightly revised for the kindergarten set...
I wanna rock and roll all day! And sleep good every night!!
They also closed their show with Journey's Don't Stop Believing.
It was awesome.
Here's a sample - my favorite part is at :55.
Imagination Movers - Farm (90 second version) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgfxF06kUFU#)
This one is OBVIOUSLY was influenced by Big Country:

Oh my God, this shit is hilarious. This has to be a joke. I haven't laughed this hard in a while, the farm song is legendary.
-
Nope - if you have kids, honey, this is your salvation. Compared to Rafi, these guys are freaking brilliant.
These videos were test market shots to see if the Disney audience would like them. And they were a hit. The Movers have been HUGE in New Orleans for years. They play Jazz Fest every year. The thing is, if you have kids, the music is not insipid and does not make you want to throw up. Their other songs, which I cannot find on YouTube, are really great IF YOU HAVE KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One day, grasshopper, you will understand.

I get it, but it is absolutely hilarious. It is like the national call to bestiality.
hahahaha, Moo Moo Moo goes the cow in the grass.

I just like the part where they channel Rock Master Scott & the Dynamic Three...
THA ROOF! THA ROOF! THA ROOF IS ON FI-YAH!
Hearing that in a kid's song cracked me up.

My nine-year old likes Imagination Movers.
The friend-chick is sort of twinkly hot. I can deal with it.
Beats the absolute screaming hell out of The Wiggles. I hate me some Wiggles.
And before you write off KISS for kids? There were tons of kids there. No profanity from the band and only mild sexual innuendo.
-
I am NOT writing off KISS for kids!! I play their music for Katie all the time. But if I took her to the concert at her age, I would be dealing with nightmares for the next five years. She HATES loud noises and I think the makeup would scare her. She has a very vivid imagination. Maybe when she is older... if they aren't dead.
And the Wiggles are the spawn of Satan. Rafi is Satan.

Nina is twinkly Hawaiian hot.
I could see where some of the imagery from the KISS show might spook a little one. Anybody under, say, 10 or so. Especially the blood puking parts.
-
Nina is precious. I also love "Nina's Song".
And Smitty, the guy in the cowboy hat, is/was a New Orleans fireman. He was part of the Katrina rescue. He is the only Mover who did not lose his home to Katrina.
Scott, the long hair guy, was an elementary school teacher. The Movers was basically his idea. Dave is/was an architect. Rich is a musician by trade and does a lot of the song writing and cd production work.

That poor cow. It was looking around hoping someone would come along and grind it into hamburger meat.

Come on board, the Animal Train, come on! everyone!
Toot toot
Learning about, animals, is really lots of fun!
Colors, sizes, what they say, are they fast? or slow?
Learning about, animals- there's so much to know!
Toot toot
This is the song that I have nightmares to, thanks to one of my one year old's toys.
I can't wait to upgrade to this stuff.

Go ahead and get the Movers on CD and keep it in the car - the one year old will like the music, and you will not want to bang your head against the wall until your eyes bleed.
