Title: Two guys....
Post by: jadennis on September 28, 2009, 01:12:27 PM
Darren Bates has turned out to be a stud.  I don't remember a true freshmen coming in and playing safety as physically and effectively as he has.  Great surprise for the defense.  By the time he's a junior he'll be all-SEC at minimum.

On the other hand....DeAngelo Benton?  Pretty much all of us thought we had AJ Green and Julio Jones stepping on the field for us.  To this point, he's barely stepped on the field period.  I have to say it's quite a let down and just reminds me that you just have to wait and see, nothing is the sure thing.

As far as Benton goes, I stick by what I said in the offseason. He didn't play any ball last year, so I think there is some rust there.

Yeah Benton has been a let down but the emergence of Darvin Adams has been great. Bates has been lighting people up and Im loving it. So far he has been a highlight reel on the D.

Benton looked great Saturday until the ball hit his hands.

Yeah, if he can just get that whole catching thing worked out, he may turn out to be a pretty good receiver.

Honestly, they need to get him involved on a few short passes and quick routes.  Some easy pitch and catch to get his confidence level up.

Maybe we should try handoff's?
