Title: Washington vs USC
Post by: RWS on September 19, 2009, 06:22:22 PM
Maybe we were a little hard on LSU? Washington is beating #3 USC by 3 points with less than 10 minutes left in the game.

I had a feeling that USC would lose, even though I put them at a (9).  If you look back through the past few years, if there's a big upset on Thursday, for some reason, there'll be upsets the following Saturday.  UT/UF, UT/TT, those were games that were pretty close.  USC/UW, Utah/Oregon, BYU/FSU, and MSU/Vandy, those were the upsets of the weekend...I think those were the only ones.

Anyway, back to the USC/UW game.  Coach Sarkisian (sp?) has the Huskies going in the right direction and when their stadium is completely full, the 70,000+ sounds more like 90,000+, because of the configuration of the stadium.  The partial roofs over the East and West sides are set at an angle to recosea (sp?) the sound onto the field and the field is dug down about 12 feet deep....also it has one of the best, if not the best, views from the stadium.  BTW, my brother has season tickets and he just set me a text and said that the stadium was shaking and that the students will be partying all week, next week.  I just sent him a text back, stating that they won't be partying after they get beat by Stanford.

Here's the shot of Husky Stadium:

Did YOU watch that game? If Arkansas beats Alabama, then thats just plain embarassing as an Alabama fan. If that UGA team can hang 52 points on Arkansas and win with what they have, and we can't do the same, that is uncalled for.

So if FIU can lead bama in the second quarter so can everybody on the remainder of your schedule!

With the exception of Chattanooga, yes, I don't see why you couldn't say that everybody remaining on the schedule could potentially lead us in the second quarter. I think a game like ULM, or Washington beating USC, etc, shows us shit can happen. We are about to enter SEC play, so I'm sure we may not have the lead in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th quarter(s) at some point. And?

You're one sick bastard.

I don't see yall getting behind against Arkansas, unless they've got a shifty n**** as a Kickoff/Punt returner.  Too me, it looks like the kinks are starting to be worked out and unless there are some serious injuries, anything worse than (9-3) would be considered a failure for SPuat.

Maybe, maybe not. We've played a good Va Tech team and two scrub teams. One of those scrub teams were handed a thorough beatdown, even by our 2nd and 3rd string guys, as it should be. Nothing surprising there. If they can bring that same intensity every game, for four quarters, then it looks like a run sort of like last year. We'll see how it plays out after a game or two of SEC play, but for the most part, you are probably right on the 9-3 thing, barring something totally bizarre happening.

LOVE this statement from Michael Bradley at CFN.  Just about sums it up.

Quote
The curious case of the USC Trojans continues to mystify folks who can’t quite understand how a team that can win a huge game on the road one week can look so horrible the next. Coach Pete Carroll took complete blame for the loss afterward, and well he should, since he is the one who has created a culture fascinated by the bright lights but unable to handle the daily chores that ensure greatness.

I wouldn't put too much into the "if they can score 52 we can.....blah, blah, blah" theory.  And I'm not sure what the "with what they have" comment is supposed to mean either, as if the Alabama offense is last years Oklahoma.  Joe Cox was the #7 QB in the country coming out of HS, he's not a joke, he just got stuck behind the #1 NFL draft pick.  And the Georgia offensive line is as talented as any in the country.

Georgia may be inconsistent some this year, but Cox is getting comfortable (375 yards and 5 TDs against anyone is respectable), and AJ Green is as good as any receiver in the country.  Mikey More, Tavarres King, and Orson Charles are proving to be a respectable group around him as well.  And getting Caleb King back to go along with Richard Samuel is a big deal too, as they are both just now getting comfortable being the running game (after mostly watching Moreno last year).

Anyway, I'm just saying, this Georgia offense isn't last years Auburn or Tennessee offense.  These guys are going to put some points up on some teams this year, I promise.  Just because they got 52 on the Hogs, I wouldn't assume that means Alabama puts up more.

If anything, this is an opportunity for the Arkansas coaches to make some changes and improvements after facing two jokes to start their season.  They will likely be a little better prepared next week.

Two years ago, Alabama went 7 - 6 and barely beat Colorado.  Now, it is embarrassing for Arkansas to lead the game against you?  Or to beat you?

...

This attitude is why Utah beat that ass, and why Arkansas will this upcoming week.

I like it.

And poor Arkansas.  Check that schedule.  Georgia, @ Alabama, Texas A&M, Auburn, @ Florida, @ Ole Miss.  They could be a lot better than last year, overall, but they could still go 1-5 in that 6 game stretch.
