Title: Auburn's Record Book is being re-written.....
Post by: The Prowler on September 13, 2009, 02:58:13 AM
so far, in only the first two games.

Ontarrio McCalebb broke Bo Jackson's Freshman Rushing Yards in a season opener.

Chris Todd and Terrell Zachery are in the record book for longest passing TD, a 93 yarder.

Ontarrio and Tate become the first Auburn running backs to rush for over 100 yards in back-to-back games.

Ontarrio, Tate and Darvin Adams are the first Trio in Auburn History to have over 100 yards in rushing for both RBs and 100 yards receiving.

Auburn has broken the Total yardage gained in two games, with 1,145 Total Yards of Offense.

Auburn has broken the rushing yardage in back-to-back games, with 300 yards.

Auburn moved the ball and scored points against two of the four worst opponents on the schedule this season.

Chris Todd was horrid tonight. Too much Kodi Burns is starting to shake him, I think. The coaches need to pick a lane and go with it.

The special teams was not good at all tonight.

The defense was as we all thought - tough in the first ranks but vastly inexperienced in the depth. Against better competition...the jury is still out for at least one more week.

Now, all of this may resolve itself and not bloom into larger problems, but the fact is we still don't know what this team is. Two weeks have produced two different performances with the same result. The only constant was the difference in level of competition.

So, Auburn is 2-0 and this is a good thing - yes - but let's all reserve final judgment until we start playing the top competition.

Chizik is the worst hire in AU history ( per Kaos )

Fuck you.

And he is the worst hire ever. According to a hell of a lot of people other than me.

He will forever be the worst hire in the history of football.  If he performs, it's only because Jacobs got lucky.  Period.  In terms of public perception, in terms of what it did to the national image of Auburn football, in terms of how it was handled, in every term imaginable the hire was the worst in the history of the game.  That will NEVER change.  Not now, not if Chizik goes 399-0.

So... what you're sayin is that if he goes 400-0 he won't be so bad?

This statement is absolutely bullshit. It even contradicts things you've written about recently, AND even from last night in your optimistic posts.

Not really. I see what he is saying...the hire was bad. Real bad. no one here...including you...was happy when Gene Chizik's name was announced.

It wasn't until he hired his staff, and they salvaged a good recruiting year last year, that there was any reason to be optomistic...

Understood, it's his assertion that perception and all this would be viewed the same even with success.  The assertion that it would "NEVER" be viewed as a good hire.  If Chizik goes 400-0, 399-0, or whatever, even though timing was bad, would have to be looked at as something rather than "worst hire in the history of football".

Was it terrible at the time?  Absolutely....it seemed.  Still might.  However, if he has crazy success, can we look back and say the same?  I suppose it's all how you look at it, but I'd have to give a nod where the nod is due if this all works out.

Why aren't you eating shit and dying?  If you're out of shit I know a few people around here who can shovel some.

No, Chopper, that statement is exactly what I've said from day one without the bleeding from the ass spin a few of you attempted to put on it.

I STILL don't know if Chizik is up to the task, but his hire was the most perplexing in the history of college football. It was, on paper, the most idiotic thing that could have been done particularly in light of the situation and the statements Jacobs made during the process.  As I told you MONTHS ago, that will never change.  Because it is what it is.  Period.

Sometimes you do a stupid thing and it ends up working out.  We've already had this discussion.  If you want to have it again, go back and re-read the last nine months of commentary.  I'm not the least bit interested in explaining it to you AGAIN, because as history proves you'll come back and ask the same damn question again later.

You are the king of bullshit.  You've done EXACTLY what you do here.  You're all over the page, take multiple positions and claim you're right on all of them.  You've declared Chizik and everything he's done a Hindenburg, an epic failure and every other f'bomb laced description in the book for eight months, and now you're claiming the "let's wait and see" approach?  Fuck you and keep your stance and quit calling people out.

Bullshit.  Sorry, but BULL.  SHIT.   You've declared Chizik a failure from day one.  Anyone that even suggested that they were willing to see, or wait and see what happens was promptly labeled a "Chizdick Sucking Loon" by you and your hatred for his "blueprint".

If it works out, it ISN'T the worst hire numbnuts, it might have not been what we all wanted, or what you expected, but if it works out, you can safely call it a "good hire".  It's one area where looking at the past is based on fact and a determination can be made on facts.  You declaring it the worst hire in college football (even if we ALLLL agreed at the time) was an OPINION, not fact and had an opportunity to prove itself one way or the other.

You're right here Kaos, however YOU already declared this an epic fail.  If it works out, you will forever have that on you.  Explain till your head pops, but we've all seen it.

You can't go back ANYWHERE and find where I have claimed that Chizik will be a slam dunk.  YOU, and YOU alone created the "Chopper Cheerleader" deal in an effort to make me the opposite of your position. I think you'll find it hard to find where ANYONE did.  However, it doesn't take a lot of digging to find several places where you have blown your stack calling Chizik everything and anything but a remote possibility for success. I've done nothing but point out how you're confusion for facts versus opinions, and declarations of failure were premature on an epic scale.  Your arrogance so completely blatant that you discouraged ANY debate form ANYONE worth a damn, let alone new people that would like to join the board or discussion.  You're a board bully, and you LOVE IT.  I think you're just being a fucking tool and you ruin this shit for ten times the number you feel you entertain.

You made your bed, now live in it.  If Chizik sucks, we'll join ya because we've given ourselves that room to wait and see. If not, you can take your bullshit antics and namecalling for the last eight months and shove them up your ass.

Not only that, I didn't bother to read that dinosaur rant.  You're wasting your time with it.

Mario was 25 yards away from having a 100 yard rushing night himself. I wonder if Auburn has ever had three 100 yard rushers in a single game before. I don't recall it ever happening.

We need a statitician on this board.

I might be wrong, but I think there was at least one game where Bo, Tommie Agee and Lionel James all went over 100.  Maybe Maryland?

Not sure but I thought I heard them say on the post game show that we had never had that happen but I'm not sure.

Stan White wouldn't know.

His head has gotten freakishly large over the years.  And his brow is more frankensteinian than I remember.  Dude has a major melon.

I don't think so.  If my memory serves me, Bo and Agee went for teh huge numbers, but Lionel was the forgotten one that day.  I just remember chanting "AGEE! AGEE!" during the 4th quarter.
