Not enough info to go on but I will say, it's not a big pro-Auburn area.

Ditch the girlfriend and hit up the Blind Horse Saloon.  New guy is guaranteed to get pussy.  Me and a few buddies used to go there while we were stationed at Ft. Gordon.  The hotel next to the bar will even give you a discount if you tell them that you hooked up with a chick at the bar.  Other than that, pretty much a shit hole that is close to Clemson.

We need more info:

1) Is this a promotion, lateral move, or a "take this job or we have to lay you off" move?

2) Do you have any other options (within the same company or with a competitor/new industry)?

This man has been trained to ask the questions that matter.

For example:

Honey, if we leave this bar and head to your place, are you gonna eat my ass?

You have to know where you stand.

Well, turns out that the option is completely mine, and for now I'm choosing to stay put until I know more.  I did recently (last month) get a promotion.  The move questions come with the geographical change in my territory.  I'm giving Mississippi and Louisiana to our new Texas based regional manager and taking over Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina (while keeping Alabama, Georgia and Florida).   This means that my living situation here in Birmingham leaves me at the now extreme western edge of my territory.

However, as I traveled this week I realized that besides a few extra hours in the car from week to week, I'm actually able to get to anywhere I need to go in basically the same amount of time.  It's all in how I handle my time and use it effectively.  I like Birmingham, and if I can keep myself here without having to centralize myself (which is why Greenville, SC came up), then I'll stay here.

So...  The issue is kind of on hold until at least spring/ summer 2010.   We'll see....

Ass eating is clearly a dealbreaker.
