Hot Corner: Andre Smith seems lost again

The former Huffman High and University of Alabama star and first-round draft pick of the Cincinnati Bengals agreed to help out with the Midwest Lineman's Camp at Illinois Wesleyan, in Bloomington, Ill.
Unfortunately, Smith didn't know there is more than one Bloomington.
As many of us from this part of the country would do, when he heard "Bloomington" he assumed "Bloomington, Indiana," home of the University of Indiana. So that's where he says he went.
Smith was due at the camp on Monday morning, June 22. He arrived about 4:30 Tuesday afternoon. The camp ended on Wednesday.
It's a cute story, this idea of this kid from Alabama driving around middle America, looking for the correct Bloomington.
But the reality is, if Smith was indeed earnestly searching for the right Bloomington, he spent almost 36 hours driving the highways and byways of the Midwest.
The story isn't quite so cute when you consider other erratic decisions made by Smith since leaving the University of Alabama -- from his bizarre NFL Combine showing to playing musical chairs with agents.
Once again, it sounds as if the incredibly talented Mr. Smith needs some direction.

Something just isn't right about that whole situation. First, did he not try and call the people when he arrived in Bloomingburg, Ind. only to find out that he was in the wrong state? Did he even look at the address, if so did he confuse Ill. with Ind.? And, where the fuck is his agent....trying to get Terrance Cody to run his 40 without a shirt on? I don't know Andre Smith, but it does sound to me that someone should put him under their wing for the first couple of years, because if he's as scatter brained as it seems...he's going to have trouble holding on to all of the money that he's going to receive. I really hope he gets his act together and I really wished that he didn't go back to that airhead of an agent.

That man was a beast in college, too bad he shrunk 2 inches at the combine.

I think part of the problem is the wrong people have him "under their wing". I appreciate him holding down LT like a fucking champ all those years, but he's gotta get this under control. From everything I have seen he's done quite well in the mini-camps. It would be a shame to waste all of that talent.

If he's looking to get the right people to help him out, then it's a good thing he's with the Bengals.... :sad:
