Title: any Eminem fans?
Post by: War Eagle!!! on June 12, 2009, 10:55:47 AM
I will preface this by saying I am not a big rap or R&B fan. I have never done any drugs, never raped anyone, never murdered anyone and my dad never abused me. My musical preferences consist of Dave Matthews, Phish, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Robert Randolph, etc.

BUT, with that said, Eminem is fucking brilliant! His new album is A plus plus plus! There are way too many good songs to mention. There are about 8 GREAT songs and the rest are pretty damn good.

The album is pretty dark and deals with a lot of drugs and murder and rape. But the lyrics and the way he uses his words is like nothing I have heard...again. He is brilliant. There is one song I can't litsen to about his father molesting him, so I haven't gotten through the first minute of that song, but every other song is really good. If you are an an eminem fan, this album is definitely worth picking up. If not, then fuck you.

Did I mention dude is brilliant???

Drugs, murder, and rape are the cornerstones of any successful rap album.   :vn:

Eminem is gay, as well as the rest of the bands you like. Also, the Cubs suck and will never win the world series.

I do like Eminem. Guilty pleasure, perhaps, but the dude's talented no matter how you slice it. Most haters probably only listen to the singles. The first one on every one of his albums is always some shit-tacular grasp at recreating the success of "My Name Is". At this point it's almost a joke that he has to come out with the shittiest pop song he can as the lead single.

I "borrowed" it from my friends over teh ebays a little before it was officially released. It's kind of like the latest AC/DC album. Good solid stuff, but really just more of the same old same old from that artist.

Which is a step in the right direction from his last album. It was basically a whole album of those retarded "First single" type songs, with about 2-3 exceptions.

Umm...OK. Did my ex-wife hack your account? I haven't ever said shit to you. AND I let you pass when you were bragging that Bobby Jon Drinkard was in the same fraternity as you...but you didn't even know him...

I don't care if the dude is white, black purple or red...that's not my point. The dude is talented. I don't listen to R&B or rap much because I don't like it. So Snow doesn't interest me just because they are white. Eminem could rap about mopping the floor and the way he raps and the words that he uses describing it would be pure genious. I have never heard someone that can stay on the same rhyme for every verse and use a different word each time...in multiple lines. Add to that that he uses 2 sylable rhymes and it is just brilliant. The dude is talented and has a way with words and the way he says them...that's all I am saying...

I used to like Dr. Dre in High School and he is in this album some. I like the way he raps, but when he raps with Eminem, it makes Dre look absolutely like the worst rapper in the world. The way Eminem sounds and the words he rhymes blows Dre out of the water.

If you just listen to what he says and how he says it, you may be blown away...he is a brilliant "wordsmith"...if that is a word...

Back to the topic at hand.

Eminem was brilliant ten years ago. That brilliance waned by 2004.

If you've never heard the guy, I guess you'd think this CD is amazing. To me, though, it's just recycled 1999-2001 material.  It's played way the fuck out.

Brilliance?  That's reserved for the guy who provides the beat and made Eminem. And made Snoop. And made NWA.  Dr. Dre is musically brilliant.

And Dave Matthews is still a flaming fag.

Dr. Dre may make the beat, but that is only half. The rhymes eminem uses are freaking good. Like I said before, I like Dr. Dre and there are 2 songs on the CD which he raps on. One in particular goes back and forth between the 2. The difference between how the 2 sound is obvious. Not only how they sound, but what is being said. Eminem is talented, and yes, I think brilliant...

I went back and reviewed each track on Relapse.  Eminem has a decent flow, but without Dre?  He would be nothing.  Less than nothing, actually.  For upon further review, his voice is annoying as fuck.  Daffy fucking Duck.

Y’all know me, still the same o.g., but I been low key
Hated on by most these niggaz wit no cheese, no deals and no g’s
No wheels and no keys, no boats no snowmobiles, and no ski’s
Mad at me cause I can finally afford to provide my family wit groceries
Got a crib wit a studio and it’s all full of tracks
To add to the wall full of plaques
Hangin up in the office in back of my house like trophies
Did y’all think i’ma let my dough freeze?  hoe please
You better bow down on both knees
Who you think taught you to smoke trees?
Who you think brought you the oldies?
Eazy-e’s, ice cube’s, and d.o.c’s
The snoop d-o-double-g’s
And the group that said mother-"fuck tha police"
Gave you a tape full of dope beats
To bump when you stroll through in your hood
And when your album sales wasn’t doin too good
Who’s the doctor they told you to go see?
Y’all better listen up closely
All you niggaz that said that I turned pop, or the firm flopped
Y’all are the reason that dre ain’t been gettin no sleep
So fuck y’all, all of y’all; if y’all don’t like me, blow me!
Y’all are gonna keep fuckin around wit me
And turn me back to the old me

Nowadays everybody wanna talk like they got somethin to say
But nothin comes out when they move their lips;
Just a bunch of gibberish
And motherfuckers act like they forgot about dre

Dre recieves way too much credit for Eminem. Until this album, he didn't have nearly the producing presence people thought. He was the Executive producer, which basically meant he fronted the money, and loaned the street cred

Slim Shady LP: 1 song produced exclusively by Dre, 1 song coproduced by Dre & someone else, 10 songs coproduced by Eminem & someone else

Marshall Mathers LP: 0 songs produced exclusively by Dre, 6 songs coproduced by Dre & Mel-Man, 6 coproduced by Eminem & someone else, 1 produced exclusively by Eminem

Eminem Show: 3 produced exclusively by Dre, 5 coproduced by Dre & Eminem, 11 produced exclusively by Eminem

Now for Relapse, Dre finally had more input than Eminem: 9 exclusively by Dre, 8 by Dre & someone else, 4 by Eminem & Dre, 1 exclusively by Eminem.

Fitty cent is the only MF that gives him any cred.

Produced schmuduced.

Who built the beats.  Who backed the guy?   Dre put the hooks together for all of it.  Eminem is his little white bitch project.  Shady does not exist unless Dre says he does.

Mr. Mathers speaking about Dre:
"Obviously his beats are insane but aside from that I can rap, I can write and not worry about what the beat has to sound like and how loud a snare drum is. All those things are taken care of for me."

More often than not, Eminem himself. Reading is fundamental.

This assessment would hold water if all of Eminem's albums were produced similarly to his latest, but his debut/breakout album was almost exclusively done by Eminem and his coproducer from before he signed with Dre.

Dre is responsible for My Name Is, and half of Guilty Conscience (the other half of the production effort belonging to Eminem) on that record, and that's it.

BZZZTTT... You are incorrect.

Eminem's first album was done by himself and didn't sell 500 copies.  His second, Slim Shady, was released to similar results until he was brought to Dre's attention.  Dre remixed the album, added his own flavor and re-released it on his label retitled slightly ( one was EP one was LP).   That's what brought Em to the forefront.

On his own?  His mom wouldn't buy his shit.  Without Dre?  Mr. Mathers is a checkout boy at a Detroit Food Giant.

Everything in your first paragraph supports what I said, with the exception of the sentence that I scratched out, which is simply not true. Dre put up the money and produced a song by himself, one with Mel-Man, and one with Eminem. He had nothing to do with the other 17 songs.

I will never understand your consistent tactic of taking something that says the EXACT opposite of what you're trying to convey and seizing on it as proof of your accuracy.

Dude. Seriously.

I was studying rap tunes when honeys were wearing sassoons.   Without Dre's backing -- both financial and musically -- Eminem does not exist.  Without Dre he is a whiny whigger.  Period.

In numerous articles he admits he does not write his own hooks.  He either samples other work -- which requires nothing of him -- Dre does it himself or Dre tells the Bass Brothers what to do.

Without Dre there is no Emenim.

Here's some info for you:

The Slim Shady EP is a 1997 EP release by rapper Eminem on the Detroit-based record label Web Entertainment. The Slim Shady EP was released on cassette and CD. Eminem sold roughly 250 copies of this EP independently, according to an interview he did on Zane Lowe.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Slim_Shady_EP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Slim_Shady_EP)

Tracks: Intro, Lowdown Dirty, If I had, Just dont give a fuck, Mommy, Just the two of us, No one's iller, murder murder...

The songs "Just Don't Give a Fuck", "If I Had" and "97' Bonnie & Clyde" previously appeared on Eminem's independent album, The Slim Shady EP, in 1997. Dr. Dre was so impressed by the EP that he wanted to use some of the tracks on The Slim Shady LP. "Just Don't Give a Fuck" was given sharper and more impressive production, with additional instruments and sound effects, as well as cuts by Kid Rock. "97' Bonnie & Clyde" was given new keylines. The EP version, which was originally called "Just the Two of Us", featured a sample from a song of the same name by Grover Washington, Jr.

You do get that there's a difference between "produced" and "did the music for" don't you?

Eminem's got a few songs that are alright, but if he'd actually stuck those nine inch nails through his eyelids and dropped himself right there, I would have been cool with it also.
