The site gets 75 cents per bid. Each bid raises the price by 1 cent.
The trick is to wait until what you think is the end of the offer. Each bid at that time adds 20 seconds to the bid time.
It is like gambling, but if you win, you can get some good shit cheap. Bidding is what costs you @ 75 cents per. Keep that to a minimum.

I bought a 4GB flash drive for $2.19 with 3 bids.
Easier to get the smaller items. The bigger items have frenetic bidding at the end.
