IT's...RUMOR TIME!!!
This coming from another message board...Um, I mean, my super secret inside source:
In April they will get the penalties for the textbooks, failure to monitor and lose a few schollys a year.
Now, the bammers will come over here and say SEE, SEE we told you it was NOTHING. Death Penalty talk, ha, ha, ha, silly Aubies.
Then, in August or October, the NCAA will nail them for the recruiting violations under CNS and charge them with LOIC (Lack of Institutional Control). They will take away a LOT of scholarships. If CNS is not tainted by the allegations he will be gone.
Watch CNS in press conferences in the future and see how many references he makes to out of control fans and unrealistic expectations. He will be paving his road out of T-town and setting the stage for what is coming. Note to Bammers: "he does not care about you or your program."
The NCAA already has enough to bury them and any interviews right now are dotting the i's and crossing the t's and tidying up loose ends.

Same shit, reheated, with a little sugar on top.
Its pretty much the same thing you always post, only re-phrased. Sounds like you guys have come to some rationale about what penalties we might face with the textbook thing, and are now backing off of the death penalty/major penalties talk beforehand, so then you can continue the whole "major penalties are coming" until August or October. That way, you guys were "right" about the textbook penalties all along, so you have to be right about the August or October thing. Plus, all of the "rumors" which were started by AU fans in the first place about whats going to happen in August or October will be so plentiful and well distributed, theres no way anybody could ignore all of this "smoke". And then when that time comes, there will be some reason why something didn't happen, then major penalties will be coming in January or February of 2010. We are well aware of how this thing works with you guys. That particular rumor reeks of "We want Saban gone!", if you ask me. Also, I find it amazing the number of AU fans who supposedly have a finger on the pulse of Alabama football.

FWIW...they are up to about 130 BPM now.

I'm hearing that their cholesterol is up a little too.
-
Sunscreen will be at a premium in T-town this summer.

This is really embarassing.
I was hoping the David Ward syndrome had worn off. I loathed that part of AUN.
I see it thrives.
*sigh*

The key difference, in my opinion, is that no one here is attempting to legitimize this crap a la Ward. No one is prefacing these rumors with, "I got this super-duper insider information by sucking cock at a fan club meeting, but I can't reveal whose cock I sucked...er...I mean... my sources."
It's a dead time of the year. Practice is closed and there is precious little else to talk about. The fact that the bama fans are going to such great lengths to dispute what are quite obviously unfounded rumors tells me that they're worried about something. That's entertaining to me.

I agree, quite entertaining, don't know if anything all is going to happen but if it does, whew, bamers will be on AU message boards in droves apologizing for being wrong about probation.... again. (well maybe not)
Maybe nothing will happen, maybe it will but in my 10+ year experience when a rumor is this persistent it has at least, some merit

I'm not sure Wes why this is so hard for some to understand, but.... oh well.

I don't see the difference. I see obsessing over Bama and ridiculous rumors that have no legitimacy whatsoever.
What particularly embarasses me is the responses to the Bama denials.
To each his own.

Yall are going to surprise a lot of folks this year. Saban and Nutt ain't shit but a couple of overpaid assholes. They have both peaked out and are on their second chances. There's a great day a'coming and the other A's are riding the wave.

There isn't some tiny part of you that enjoys any rumor about bama's imminent demise? The rumors may be (and probably are) complete bullshit, but in April, with kickoff five long months away, it's fun. It's sort of like daydreaming about winning the lottery: in all likelihood it won't happen, but how much fun could you have if it did?

I have specifically avoided commenting on the back-and-forth (or, more accurately, the back-forth-and back again), only the ridiculous effort to stop football message boards (note the plural) from spreading rumors. That task is like asking Howard to stop chasing Hannah Montana fans: futile.

There is enough sand in some folks vagina here to fill in the ruts to my camp on the river. PM me if yall have a good delivery price. It would be a present if the spouse could drive her Towncar there instead of shotgunning in my 4WD. Thx.

So when the NCAA doesn't do shit at the end of April, can we stop worrying about the NCAA possibly investigating Alabama?
"Anything we did last year does nothing but put a target on our back -- (that's) what this team needs to get prepared for," he said. "Because I doubt if before last season anybody had Alabama as one of the teams they needed to beat to win the West (Division) or the SEC. I think everybody will have Alabama as the team to beat this year. So with that goes a responsibility and obligation of our team to have a higher expectation of what we expect of ourselves.
"Do I see that happening? No. Do I think we have a cultural problem here in terms of expectations? Absolutely. We think that because we did something last year, we're going to do something this year, and that doesn't mean anything. I don't want to make any of our fans mad, but if we're thinking that way, we're not thinking right."
This excerpt from Saban's press conference is far from alluding to potential NCAA investigations. I believe wholeheartedly that Alabama cheated to get recruits. However, why should I believe the NCAA is actually doing anything about it?
Hell, I could start this rumor:
"The NCAA knows about the incidents in Gadsden. Fuckstick-who-shall-not-be-named has been disassociated with the Alabama football program because of his involvement in illegal recruiting practices. Because Alabama has complied with the textbook investigation and also prefaced the investigation by self reporting, they will be on a kind of 'secret' probation. They've been warned. This is coming from a source I have at the NCAA offices. It looks like Bama has skated past these issues with only a few scholarships being taken away for a silly textbook issue."
Honestly, I can see myself logging onto Rivals and reading that from one of the "insider" posters.
I can also see this one when no word about further, more serious investigations comes out:
"You have to have patience. The NCAA is trying to gather all the evidence they can. It's a meticulous process because of the involvement of lawyers. If the NCAA flubs on anything, they'll be dealing with lawsuits like they did with the Albert Means case. Just keep your ears open for the next PLOI because it'll be a big one."
I hope to God all these rumors turn into the truths. By the way, how's Reggie Bush's legacy doing at USC? He still has his Heisman, right? USC still has all those victories, right?

Apparently Finebaum reads the same message boards. He's taken some of this gibberish and used it to stir the pot.
Amazing.
