Title: OK, Who's watching?
Post by: AUTiger1 on January 06, 2009, 08:44:20 PM
Who's watching the Tulsa/Ball St. game?  I just turned it on about 10 minutes ago and have jumped on here to read up.  Haven't really seen enough to make an opinion, anyone watch the entire 1st?

I've watched the 1st quarter.  Tulsa's O isn't killing it yet, but it looks better than anything we put on the field this year.

i almost took a vacation day today to go watch it. so far its fairly even. Ball State fumbled in their own territory twice, both QBs look impressive. it looks like the defenses are playing up. Ball State sacked Tulsa's QB three straight times on one series. both teams look pretty good overall.

I'm checking it out.  Hasn't it been raining in Mobile all day?  Also, I thought I heard the announcers saying that Malzahn calls the pass plays and some other guy calls the run plays.  Kind of odd.

I heard that too, I liked what I saw on that last drive.

Anyone see Trotter play in HS?  Does he have the play anything like Tulsa's QB?

that field floods when a bird takes a piss on it. i've been on it and been to games there numerous times, some while raining. it never does very well. it will look like mush shortly. scratch that i forgot they put down artificial turf. still, it doesn't drain well.

280 yds running the ball now... late third quarter....  Imagine that.... an offense that is able to adjust to what's available.

It's pitch and catch all over the field.  Honestly, I doubt we see anything close to what we're watching when Malzahn takes over next year.  This offense is too freakin' gimmicky and works well against the UTEP's and North Phoenix College Wizards.  The exact same version would get squashed like a bug in the SEC.  Too much size and too much speed.

I'm not hatin' on Malzahn by any means.  From what I've seen and from the feedback from Hawg fans, he'll adjust to his personnel.  In answer to my question in another thread, anyone remember Arky coming to Auburn for one of those 11:00 a.m. games with Mitch Mudstain at QB?  Did that offense even sniff of what we're watching tonight?  They threw the ball 10 times the entire game and punked Auburn on their home field.  That was Gus Malzahn.  So....I'd take what we're seeing tonight with a grain of salt and take a wait and see attitude about what he'll run on teh Planes.

I think after this season any offense looks good to me right now.  I may have a skewed sense of what is reality right now.

So is the pitch and catch part, part of the over 300 yards rushing, and 190 yards rushing Adams has...along with his 3 TD's?  I'm with you actually Birdman, but what I like, is the fact that Ball State doesn't have the FIRST clue where the football is going play to play, and THAT is great play calling.

This is a royal beatdown on any level.

I agree, all I freaking ask for is creativity with a small dose of common sense.

All around supreme ass-whoopery, especially considering Tulsa was the unranked underdog.

The future looks bright.

Did Tulsa get a penalty?  If they did I wasn't paying attention or really just let it lapse.
