Jerraud Powers declared for the draft.
And the NFL draft analysts said "who?"
Wow.
-
Oh come on...seriously? Don't tell me Powers is really that much of a numbnuts.

Well then, what would you like for me to call you?

We've got to get this man to a hospital.
A hospital? What is it?
-
Not a smart move for Powers, what is this kid thinking?
-
My guess would be that he is not very optimistic about this upcoming season.

It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

Then he's caught a case of the dumas.
Chizik has coached 3 DBs up to Thorpe Award winners...in consecutive years.
Powers might learn a thing or two if he sticks around.
-
$$$$$$$$$$$$
-
Doesn't he have until the 15th or so to back out of that though?
He was obviously the best DB Auburn had in '08, but I really think he would be better served waiting a year to do this.
-
He hasnt talked to an agent yet but I feel confident he's gonne move on. Hell, he will have his degree in May so even though he might've been able to improve his stock with another year its not like hes pulling a McGlover or anything...
-
Ended up working out for Stanley, hope it works out for Powers

Precisely. I stand corrected.
-
Horrible move...but only academically. He's not going to make it far in the NFL, but this might be his best shot. He ain't growin' taller, and he ain't gettin' faster. He's a solid player and might make a roster for a few years. However, if he totally busts, he's going to have some trouble without a degree and without an NFL contract.
He should stay in school solely to receive his degree, and then test the NFL waters. It certainly won't hurt his status.
-
I have heard that he graduates in May, anyone else heard this?
-
You can always go back and get your degree. Most players put in their contracts that the professional team will pay for them to complete their undergrad education, and even if its not in the contract he still has plenty of money to pay for a semester or a year of school. Its better to make your money now than risk getting hurt and never making that kind of money.
-
He graduates in May guys, hes not doing anything wrong. If he feels this is the best move for him then, as much as I hate to see him hang up the AU jersey, Isupport him. He's not throwing a chance at a degree away though guys so don't move so hastily to hate on him.

Truth. And even if he were, this is true:

He is a solid enough player to get drafted, then all he has to do is beat out a few people in the camps. Depending on who drafts him, that is very possible. Also, like others said, he graduates in May, so unlike a lot of early NFL draftees, he is going there with his degree already.
As to my comment as to he may not be too optimistic about this year, it was not about what he could learn under Chizik, it was about the whole team and season altogether. Given CTT fiasco and he might have known about the Ted Roof hiring, he may just feel like the team is not going to do much better next year than this past year with no real possibility of winning an SEC championship during his senior year. So if he is going to have his degree before next season, why not go ahead and get into the NFL, making some decent $$$? He might not start his first year, but that does not mean he will not improve enough to start. There are many NFL starters and even superstars that were not highly drafted or did not play much their first couple of years.
As an Auburn fan, I would like to see him back, but I can't hate the guy for doing what he thinks is best for him. We all do it everyday when it comes to our jobs or families.

I didn't realize he graduated in May. More power to him. I hope he blows up some loud mouth receivers.
-
I heard he graduates in May. JMO...
-
If he could have graduated in may, he may have made up his mind based on money that may have been promised by an agent, maybe. He may go early in the draft or he may go as an undrafted free agent. What does Mark Mays have to say? Holtz may have an opinion on him, maybe.
-
If I may be so bold...maybe this guy may graduate in May. You may want to think about that and maybe you won't be so quick to judge....maybe. May he have a great career in the NFL. When do training camps start up, in May?

Okay... It just may.

May is the day.
-
It seriously worries more about the team when you look at the players who have met the staff and decided to jump ship.

Yeah b/c no other team had juniors that decided to leave early for the pros. It really pisses me off that he got Coleman to stay, which convinced his nephew to jump back on board and the horror of David Conner being interested in us again, what an ass he is. :taunt:
