Alabama vs. Auburn
Families split down the middle. Hatred burns bright. Blood in the steets. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The bottom line is that the Iron Bowl is rarely a matchup between two elite teams. That's what it should always be, but never is. When was the last time both Alabama and Auburn were among the nation's top-10 teams in the same season? (Crickets). This year is no different. Alabama is No. 1 and Auburn ... well ... Auburn is terrible. Until this game pits two teams having meaningful seasons, it will remain one of the most overrated rivalries of the season.

SO a rivalry game is where the best teams in the nation play huh? Then why not name the BCS National Championship game the GREATEST GOD DAMN RIVALRY ON EARTH then?? Or let's rename the Super Bowl, the Rivalry Bowl...

That's what makes a rivalry dill hole. It doesn't matter who is #1 or who is #50...or if both teams both suck. It is a rivalry when everyone in the state of Alabama will be watching that day, no matter what the rest of the country thinks about the game or what national meaning it has. Sure, I would like there to be something on the line when the 2 teams play...but that doesn't mean that I will only watch half heartedly even if Auburn is only playing for a trip to Shreveport...

That's just a dumb argument...

I've been to two FSU/Miami games.  For about 10 years there, that was considered one of the biggest with all the bad blood, fights and both teams being relevant on the NC scene.  The games were fun but I'm very serious when I say I've been to Auburn/Ole Miss games that were louder and far more intense.

the rivalry has suffered from lackluster matchups and recent domination.

100% concurrence.

Cause you know that Army/Navy game has national title implications every year. Seriously, which "Rivalry" has ever been about both teams gunning for a national title in recent years?

Must have been written by a Texas or Texas Tech fan...

Exactly! I honestly have to rate the Army/Navy game as the best rivalry in the country, because it represents a whole country and not just a city or state. I have been to Iron Bowls before and that is an incredible atmosphere and I get fired up for it more then any other game we play, but the atmosphere at an Army/Navy game is just so different and unbelievable.

So, if those idiots try to use the criteria that it has to be among two elite teams just about every year, then I guess all the hype and goosebumps you get at an Army/Navy is just bullshit.

War Eagle!
Go Army! Beat Navy!
