So… what ya got?
Kaos got AU basketball tickets (SUPER gift). Old school basketball sweatshirt. An electric can opener. A soda stream (which works far better than anticipated)! Boxing equipment. Tool charging rack. Golf club. Clothes. Books.
But mostly? Two grown daughters who put time and thought into getting stuff for me. That’s what kaos got.

I was spoiled this year…
Got a pretty complete bartender mixing set. I’m going to be a mad scientist, conducting very, very whiskey experiments.
Got some more fabletic sweats. When I’m home, sweats are what you’re going to catch me in with exception to the warmer months.
Got a free day to romp around on our heavily wooded land, cutting down undergrowth trees/dead trees. Not much tops going all leather face with a chainsaw with countless victims of pine and cottonwood.
Got to spend time with family. At that stage in life where I get to worry about how many more Christmases I’ll get with my folks. Trying to soak it in every chance I get.
Found a new Church home that’s a perfect fit for my kiddo. She knows other kids in her Sunday School, and the preaching is mighty fine.
In-Laws gifted us a pretty nice chunk of money. They do this every Christmas, but this one was larger than usual. Very thankful that they’re setting us up for success as best they can.
Most of all, I get to see the joy and magic in my kid’s face as we go through all the usual Christmas stuff. Definitely a reminder of how blessed we are as parents.

I could tell at the 2 tailgates this season that your 2 daughters are well raised ladies that are still close to their old man. Speaks volumes. Kudos to you on them.

It's hilarious how the outlook on Christmas gift giving, or gift giving in general, changes as I get older. I still want to try and do something to surprise family members, but when the wife asks me what I want, I only think of something we need. Of all things, this year I asked for a specific 12" frying pan from Williams-Sonoma. That's what I got.
It's become where cooking is a passion for me now. I opened the box and was like, Oh hell yeah!!!

We talked about it this year. Next Christmas, God willing, instead of all the presents, we are going to pool the money we would have spent and go somewhere together for a few days. Maybe not at Christmas. But book it then. Of all the gifts I could ever be given, being away from here with my kids and any significant others able to join (not WT, he doesn't count) would be the best of all time.
First trip we're planning is to Bruges.
It's a fairytale town, in't it? How's a fairytale town not somebody's ******* thing? How can all those canals and bridges and cobbled streets and those churches, all that beautiful ******* fairytale stuff, how can that not be somebody's ******* thing, eh?
Fly to Lon-muslim-don, take the train to Bruges.

I don't really get a whole lot at Christmas, this year was no different. Got a Chiefs hoodie and an AU whiskey/bourbon bottle. Mainly the big thing was finishing up our shop to start our t-shirt business. So basically the wife and I did that for each other. The great part this year was my middle son (a manger for the women's basketball at Shelton State JUCO) came home for a week, and my oldest son (a Marine stationed at 29 Palms California) is home for two weeks. It's been 10 or 11 months since we've seen him. So it's been a good Christmas here in the Greene house to say the least.

Nice. Tell me about the t-shirt business. We may have something in common there.

We have decided to do it for a couple of reasons. One, it will help fund our non profit. Two we are going to do shirts for families that have children fighting childhood cancer to sell to help with expenses. Third, we want to work for ourselves and have something to pass on to the kids if they choose to do so.

I just bought the wife a Brother 6-needle embroidery machine for Christmas. She's at the shop getting a tutorial on it now. She's been building up a pretty good following over the last couple of years, doing wreath sashes, napkins etc. But, it's getting to the point where she can't keep up on the machine she uses now. I'm looking at it somewhat the same way, in that we'd like to have a small business to be up and running when I retire from here, which won't be long.

They call it retirement for a reason…
When you get old, Christmas is about how many of your people you can get together. When they get scattered, it means a lot more.
I got a new pair of hunting boots. The old ones looked good on top, but the soles want to disintegrate. Nothing is made worth a damn any more.
