Title: 11:44
Post by: jmar on September 29, 2024, 09:15:20 AM

Venable's elects not to punt.McCloud sacks Hawkins on 4th and 15.
Auburn takes over on its own 45.

It's at this point of the game when veteran head coach and veteran quarterback lose all cognitive function and situational presence to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Yes, there were some heroic events by Hawkins that followed but Auburn has a way of creating legendary figures out of just slightly above average characters.

They don’t know how to win.  Giddy at the prospect of actually pulling it off the Beaver’s sphincter shrunk three sizes. Meanwhile Thorne - who envisions himself as some kind of unfairly maligned hero - decided he was going to show us all what kind of player he was. Already reveling in the post-game “told ya” moment he forced it and showed everyone once again what he is.

I think this is pretty damn close to what happened.

More or less admitted in the post-game pressers. He's just making the wrong decisions and somewhere between practice, where he's supposedly so amazing, and the game, the message is muddled.

Hugh was chewing his ass late in that game before the pick and you can see Thorne snap back, "that's the right read" to his coach. One, shows he has no respect for authority. Two, shows the authority is just ranting and raving about "the system works" instead of actually coaching/teaching. Three, shows this QB room that threatened to all transfer if they brought in a portal player, has no leadership skills or balls to them. Either embrace competition or get ready to be a beta for life.

This weekend the season's over. Kirby will make a statement in Athens and this team will struggle to win four. It's on to roundball now.

Thorne wants veteran receivers on the field.
He depends on them to react to underthrown balls in a general area, like KLS on his fucking back.
He goes to pointing at his eyes excitedly when the freshman Coleman doesn't respond to one of his off target throws.

So that's where we are.
We won't see the younger talent as much with Thorne.
Is it worth the risk of possibly losing them by staying the course to maybe win 3 or 4 games?

No. He had a decent game until it mattered most. Grab some bench and get ready for your coaching career.

Ride with Hank and accept our fate in the basement of the SEC.

And I agree. Go with Hank.
This isn't the Thorne-KLS-Sam Jackson tour.
Freeze allowed this.

There's no difference between 4-7 and 2-9.

Not much.
