Why does Freeze say stupid things?

Why won’t the stupid Beaver shave? I guess he thinks he looks like Don Johnson from 1986 with that unshaven look. Instead he looks like an alcoholic bum.

Shaving aside, I had to ignore some similar bravado from Malzahn over the years.
Agree though it's one thing to think it and quite another to say it.
I don't see us hanging 50 on very many of our remaining opponents.

I'm not defending what he said.
I do know he has a light complexion which has likely reddened from the practice field. So being fair skinned, it's really no surprise that he would have a patchwork of whiskers if he doesn't shave. Could possibly have some skin allergy/scalp issues as well.

Hate that he's earned the scorn of the Arkansas faithful. In time perhaps they will temper their hatred for him. Finebaum is another matter altogether. Get on his shit list and he and his Bamer buddies will snipe at you daily.

I think Freeze just expects too much. Saying it out loud was probably a moment of exasperation which only feeds the lynchmob.
Petrino probably conferred with Pittman at halftime and said look, we can win this game because they will beat themselves. Our guy can't throw it in the ocean from a boat. Let's keep running the ball.
In a video game your QB might fit one in for a celebratory score, or even occasionally throw one up for a ridiculous score on 4th and nineteen.
In actual competition though you have real human beings in 100 degree heat deciding the outcome.
When I say pound the ball, I don't just mean 2 yard dives. I'm saying throw the kitchen sink at them and mix in some throws as needed.
Turnovers are part of the game. 1970s Oklahoma teams could fumble 5 times and still win by 35 against perennial losers.
All we have to do is run the ball and throw to OPEN receivers.
If you throw it on time there will likely be a good outcome.
Again, our QBs might fit one in five with a corner keeping pace and a safety bearing down.
So why take that chance?
