The Germans ain’t even bombed Pearl Harbor yet.

Put a whoopin’ on them for opening day. I think the projected 5th best team in the SEC preseason is a good expectation as a starting point. We definitely have some talent to be top dogs when all is said and done.

Tigers sitting at 4-0 after a sweep of EKU and a 7-2 win over UAB on Tuesday. They've only given up 10 total runs in those 4 games, but are scoring right at 10 a game themselves.
Starting to tomorrow, they get a little taste. Headed to Jacksonville for a weekend tournament, where they will face #18 Iowa, Wichita State and #10 Virginia.

Excited to see what we do against some good competition. It’s been fun watching them this season so far.
Ike Irish is the truth. No other way to explain how someone is that much better with a bat than their peers than chalking it up to God given talent.

Drove ten inches in the ole gray mare.

Battled back with a good 7th inning to take down #18 Iowa 7-5. Maners & Pierce were the difference with a solo & 2 run blast, respectively.
Today, we face the mighty 2-2 Wichita State Shockers at noon.

No problem with the Shockers.

That was a true back and forth battle. Butch said it best… they executed in critical moments a little more than we did. Very equally matched teams.

War Eagles move to 7-1 with a 12-3 pounding of Samford.
Host 2-4 UConn for a 3 game set this weekend.

Why are we not taking 3-3? Are we missing a quality third starter?

Our best starter gave up 6 runs in the first inning of the middle game. Shit happens.

8-4 Hump Day win over Air Force moves the Tigers to 10-2. 3 game set vs. Austin Pee-Pee this weekend. We were going Saturday, but it's looking like a 70% chance of rain, and windy. Not worth the drive.
-
BTW, Austin Pee-Pee is also 10-2, which includes taking a 2 game set from Miss. State in Starkvegas. Could be a wild series.

Good guys pick up the win in an early start due to the monsoon.

13-3 now after traveling to Troy yesterday and take an 8-2 win.
SEC play starts Friday with a 3 game set against Vandy in Nashville. The Dores are 15-3 and ranked #10 in the USA Today Top 25. Auburn sits at #19.

Ah, my bad. I just saw it wasn't at Planezmens Park and figured it was in Troy. Odd for two teams about an hour away from each other to travel up there for a game.
-
Welp, the season went south in a hurry. After 6 games against #9 Vandy and #1 Arkansas, the Tigers sit at 1-5. 15-8 overall.
After a mid-week game against Jacksonville State, it's right back in the grinder against #4 Texas A&M out in College Station. Yeesh!
-
We got them right where we want them.
Nobody comes into our house and takes 3-3 every series!
-
I hated getting swept by Vandy. Taking one of the 3 against Arkansas was meeting expectations. Expecting much of the same against A&M. We will gain confidence & competence as the season wears on and will be in the conversation by years end as one of the better teams in the SEC. It’s the Butch Thompson trend, and I’m okay with it.

How is the Bass team doing this year?

Much better since they got that Bass-O-Matic 1973
-
16-8 after putting a 10 run rule stoppage on Jacksonville State last night. On to College Station.

Oh goodie, Tennessee comes in this weekend ranked #4.
-
bigger concern is why aren't we the feared team and ranked #4 ...shit needs to start changing. we're getting eaten alive in league play.

I agree. The SEC is a monster but we should not be in last place.

Agreed. When bats are alive, pitching is subpar. When pitching is adequate, bats go cold. I still have faith we’ll find the right formula & catch our stride.

It's like my golf game. The last two times I played? First time out, my driver was on, consistently straight and long (don't say it). My irons were really strong. But I could not putt at all. I three-putted 12 of 18 greens. That's 36 freaking strokes.
The next time? Zero three putts, I was knocking them in from everywhere. One putt on eight or nine holes. But my drives? Shank left or an awful slice. Chunked irons. Skulled chips.
It just never comes together. I'm either on in two and three-putt or on in four and drain a 15-footer. The score remains the same either way.

We did take one game. But that was an anomaly. We are in a bad place this year. I hope Butch has a plan moving forward next season. Because this season looks to be getting ugly.

We have played, hands down, the toughest schedule in the nation. Problem is, we're not really competitive. A bunch of close games at A&M, but still allowed an ass load of runs. Our pitching is teh sux.

As I eluded to, we are about a season away IF we actually have a plan. I am not sure we have enough pitching on the way to make that move up to the next level.
If not, does that mean its on Butch? Or are we just a program that will remain at this level regardless of the coach?

We are in dire need of a full scholarship plan for the two diamond sports.

Meh. Errbody else is under the same restrictions. We need playas that play for the Urgganblu.

Just lost to Alabama State

Alabama and Auburn are under the most. All other SEC Schools get some sort of assistance with this (mainly via Lotto). Especially Ga and Fla.

Dropped three to Kentucky. Our hitting was good enough to win two.

This pitching is just atrocious. Some of the worst I have seen. Starting to wonder if this is Foxhall. Same blueprint from MSU.
-
After dropping 9 of the last 11, Auburn sits at 18-17 (2-13) Georgia Tech (22-12) comes in for a mid week game, then off to Starkvegas.
-
does it really matter anymore?
-
Our hitters couldn’t even make it a game in Starkvegas last night. This is a lost season.
-
I can’t even bring myself to watch this anymore. I’m too damn old for extreme roller coasters.
-
Now that our pitching doesn’t suck, our hitters have forgotten how to hit.

Here in Auburn? I didn't know they still had a team!

Yeah, we've got uniforms, and everything. It's really great.

We did beat LSU on the road yesterday to snap a looooong SEC losing streak. I don’t think we need to book tickets for Omaha yet.

I was pretty excited to watch our baseball Tigers to start the season. That now seems like a very distant memory. Pitching coach needs to go, in my opinion. The pitching rotation needs a complete overhaul in talent as well. Hopefully Butch will take the necessary steps to get us back in the mix.

Well on our way to losing a series to a very mid Ole Miss squad. :jaw: WTF happened?

Butch's boys pulled that one out of the fire. 22-24, 4-20 on the year is nasty though.

Fighting with the bottom of the barrel to be king of the bottom is no way to exist.
I guess the one positive here is that they are still fighting.

Tonight pretty much summed up the season...up 11-6 in the 7th, cough up 6 and lose 12-11.
The worst SEC record that I've seen in the last 20 seasons was 5-24-1...Bammers put that masterpiece together in 2017.
Not sucking that bad is now the target for this season. Got to not lose 4 of the last 5.

Welp, we won yesterday and today so we avoided the ineptitude of 2017 Alabama. If we can just take the series next weekend and head into next year with some good feelings…

My question is:
Is it what the pitching coach inherited, or a string of bad coaching?
Hopefully one way or another, they’re planning to shake some things up in the off-season to make us better.

Hudson leaves. Foxhall enters. It’s very very obvious a drop off happened in development that coincided with this. The recruiting has been good. Enough to not have the record that we do.

Switch hitting catcher Lucas Steele joins the team through the portal from Samford. He brings some HR power to the middle of the lineup. His teammate INF Garrett Staton is said to be a possible transfer as well. Staton, more if a doubles hitter would be a nice addition as well.
Doesn't address the pitching woes but the incoming class is said to be highly rated so we'll see what happens next season.

Was very surprised to see that the staff was expected to stay intact. I thought for sure the pitching coach would be replaced.
-
I think we may be losing several to the portal. The CF was most prominent one that I saw so far.

Damn, wasn't aware of that. No clue what Hudson was drawing when he was at Auburn. I looked to see what he was doing now, didn't learn anything. Probably fishing or playing golf.

Head Corch @ Lee Scott.
Stanfield was excellent defense, but left a lot to be desired at the plate.

Just looking at the 17 incoming freshman from February and no true outfielders in sight. A few of the pitchers played some at 1B but no everyday glove that can cover ground. Maybe Stanfield's replacement is already on the roster.

Wanted to coach his kid at Lee Scott his last few years. Didn't draw anything at Auburn (volunteer). From what I have been told by a former player who is super tight with him helping coach as a GA Timmy's few years, don't hold your breath on him coming back. There was more to it than just him leaving to coach his kid. Although I would love it if he ever did. He was excellent.

Not sure it'll matter as long as trying to recruit players from state's where the lotto gives them full rides.

Haven't seen anything on that yet but would be a nice break to get for the program. Saw the renovations this weekend. Very nice.
