I haven't seen a thread on this yet, but Virgil Starks passed away last night of a heart attack. He was pretty much the CEO of academics for student athletes at Auburn. He was a fired-up type guy and gave us Tiger Tutors pep talks that would make you want to strap on the pads and tackle books. He worked a lot with recruiting, and the high school kids would usually get their first information about Auburn academics from a meeting with Virgil. Even though he was tough as nails, he always seemed like the teddy-bear type. He's going to be missed big time, and from what I've heard, the players haven't taken his passing too well. He's survived by his wife and 3 daughters. He was only 46 years old.

I heard about this last night. What did he die from? That is awfully young.

He had a heart attack while driving home after the game on Saturday.

If it was at halftime, I don't blame him. I almost had one myself.

My first ever meeting as a college athlete was with Virgil Starks. He was a great one no doubt. He sure put the fear of god into us to make good grades and stay on top of our studies in that meeting!
He was always really really helpful if you ever needed anything. It didn't even matter if it was his area of responsibility of not.
Auburn will miss him.

I believe the correct term Equine Masseuse or "Fluffer" if you are in the industry.

cross country & track....certainly not anything glamorous. But we had to sit through all the same meetings as the football and basketball guys, in which Virgil Starks gave a few of those speeches that townhall was talking about.
