Title: Love Those Tight Ends
Post by: Snaggletiger on March 03, 2021, 12:50:11 PM
Mmmmm.....

Never too early to talk some foosballz, especially with Spring practice cranking up shortly.  Saw an article today from 247 on the tight end position at AU.  A long forgotten and sorely underused position for quite a few years.  Malzahn went from using it as a legit weapon, to changing the name and using it almost exclusively for blocking.  Last year, Chad Morris comes in with the promise of inserting it back in the offense; however, 11 total games netted 20 total catches between all of them. So you might as well say they continued to ignore the possibilities.

Will Harvinz/Bobo try and weaponize that position again?  Honestly have no clue about how either of them used TE's when running their respective offenses.  But there's no question they have a ton of talent at their disposal on the roster.

John Samuel Shenker
JJ Pegues
Brandon Frazier
Tyler Fromm
Luke Deal
Landen King

Shenker had the most catches and probably the best all around TE.  Pegues is the 300 pound freak of nature who can catch it, run it and pancake that ass on a block. Frazier is 6'7" so you know you can run some plays to get him the ball.  I'm just ready to make people have to respect this position again, which takes pressure off so many aspects of your offense.

Frazier is a terrible actor. Glad he picked another hobby.

I heard that Frazier is looking sharper than Clint Mosely in drills and is probably the favorite to start going into spring.

That 🐢 doesn't stand a chance against a kid that grew up on Malzahn's Hurry up/no huddle offense. There aren't enough Springs for him.

Pfft...everybody knows Niles is coming in this year and is ready to steal the starting spot from the get go.

These attempts at humor are going to make Wes vomit. And I’m with him on the low IQ shit getting old.
