"Work. Hard work."
"If we're going to play for championships, everything you do matters."

I like those big rope noodle thingys.

Auburn's coach is jacked. So what? Is Auburn going to play better? Is Bo Nix going to not suck out loud? Is the defense going to stop getting pantsed in pressure situations? Is the offensive line going to stop being a turnstile? That's what matters.
Social media marketing pieces like this that mix the nuevo with Creed-thumper phrases are as hollow as promises from corporations that they really care about ____________ plight or current social justice fad.
This has the makings of a hilarious disaster.

Coarch Harsin is jacked. I mean even moreso than Snaggs. I smell a championship!

I've got him in the calves department.

You know I'm no sunshine pumper. It should also be noted that I have a pretty good instinctual "feel" for how things really are.
AU had gotten soft under Malzahn. That's just a fact. He coddled certain players. The program had gotten stagnant because Malzahn himself was soft and he was also indecisive. Remember his "committment to the weightroom fad?" How long did that last before he was back to the Popeye's four-piece fried chicken meal with all the fixin's and the accompanying moobs that looked like softballs wrapped in a dishtowel?
In the 1989 version of Batman, Joker grumbles "this town needs an enema." That's what Auburn needed. It needed a cultural shift. It needed more tough love and less peace and love.
I get the sense that this is what Harsin brings. He's not going to baby Nix. He's going to push him to correct his mechanics, to make better decisions, to follow direction. He's going to get away from the cutesy bullshit that killed us way too many times (dipsy doodle Clemson, anybody?).
I expect to see a team that will be:
1) organized
2) motivated
3) prepared
4) decisive
5) controlled
Is he going to win a national championship next season? Fuck no. Gus shit the recruiting bed way too badly for that to be a realistic goal. Will he ever win a national title? Probably not. That's just not who we are. I've seen one in my entire lifetime and that was somewhat of a one-man fluke. We've come close a few other times since I was born (1983, 1987, 2004, 2017) but for reasons in and out of our control it wasn't to be.
Fact is? I've seen one. I'm okay with that. I don't have to see another. I just want to watch Auburn football again and be proud of what I see. I don't want to turn the television off in disgust again because our coach is picking his fucking nose while we go three and out, because he's staring up at the scoreboard in utter confusion, because our offense looks like a pack of blind monkeys humping a pineapple, because our defense can't get off the field on third down and anything, because players are constantly out of position, because our receivers can't run basic patterns....
I'm no sunshine pumper. But I'm as curiously excited about AU football as I have been in a decade. The total culture has changed. I can feel it. Gus was a good old boy buddy. Harsin seems to be straight business. I think that's what AU needs and I, for one, am on board.

The day Harvinz was announced, someone sent me a video, maybe GH or GF, of a press conference he was doing. In it, he was basically calling out some of his own players, the ones who wanted to sleep late and show up to the weight room later in the day. He said some of these guys are showing up whenever they want to and wonder why they're riding the bench.
That's the first time I ever heard the guy talk and thought, things might be changing at The University of Auburn. Might also be why some players like Newkirk and Mud Kat decided to take their "talents" elsewhere. Don't know that, but it sure seemed a little coincidental that they bolted after being here all those years.

Pretty much where I'm at with Harsin, though I'd downgrade "curiously excited" to "cautiously optimistic."

Not quite as exciting as "furious and high."

Yeah he ain't coming home like Johnny or the second coming of Dye but I'm on board with Greene's choice. It's outside the box, unfamiliar and anyone's guess where it goes but for me it beats the cast of characters that were available. I'm thinking this bunch of assistants Harsin assembled can recruit and develop talent so I'm good with a three year trial period to put things in order.
So I'm as you say "cautiously optimistic."

He came in with nsd mostly a wash. Not much meat left on the bone. Depending on who you asked we were 42nd to 53rd in rankings. Now the 247 composite has us 20th. We have 7 schollys left to give too before summer. We will end up with a class somewhere in the teens. He pulled kids in from everywhere to pull that class out of the ditch. One of them a guy named Dylan brooks who should have been at auburn already. Brooks is 40 mins up the road in roanoke. He had not heard from Gus. Same with kids down in phenix city. And Columbus. Harsin has these kids in the mix now.
That , to me is enough for me to believe at this point.

I have moved up from "I won't attend games" to "I might not attend games".
