Can we get one posted this week?

I love me some Pre-Dick-Shun thread. However, this week's featured games are Georgia Tech @ FSU, Duke @ Notre Dame and Clemson @ Wake Forest. After that, it starts looking like:
Coastal Carolina @ Kansas
Citadel @ South Florida
La. Monroe @ Army
Houston Baptist @ Texas Tech
Right now, I can honestly tell you I know the names of 3 players total from all those teams. I'd have to say that since Clemson is favored to go undefeated again and make the playoffs, while Wake's QB transferred to Fuck Georgia, I'll take the really orange Tigers by 35. Notre Dame is, as usual, predicted to be a top 10 team and they're playing at home. I'll take the Golden Homos by 25. GT is still transitioning from years of Paul Johnson option, while FSU should be much improved with Norvel over the rag tag Taggart gang. Playing at home, I'll take the Semenholes by 20.
Those are my best, totally uneducated guesses.

I pick the ronas to go all the way this year

As you would imagine, the lines on most of these games are not pretty. The Big 12 is playing 1 OOC game and Saturday is that game across the conference. So games like UTEP at Texas are 40+ point spreads. On some of the games mentioned, the favorites are:
Clemson -33
FSU -13
Notre Dame -20
North Carolina is an 18 point favorite over Syracuse. Kind of glad we didn't open with UNC. The QB is legit. I thought Dino Babers had the Cuse' on the right track a couple of years ago, but they're predicted to suck again this year. May be bye bye Babers.
After some good wins and being competitive in more games than usual last year, I'm hoping to see Les Miles get the Jayhawks out of the dumper. The peeps who do the bets may not think so. Kansas is only a 6.5 favorite over Coastal Carolina. However, that may be because the Chanticleers beat them 12-7 last year.
Yes, a less than stellar artois line up of games this weekend. But it's college football and unless they try to shove the BLM's down my throat, I will be grilling, blowing the froth off a couple of too many and watching some of it.

At least until it hits amen corner around November 4th.

I'm thinking the Big 12 is wondering why they didn't listen to the Big 10 and opt out of this season. Iowa State got popped by the Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana, Kansas lost again, and badly, to Coastal Carolina. And Arkansas State took down Kansas State. That's Ohfer3 against the Fun Belt Conference.
I knew the name of FSU's quarterback and I knew Mike Norvel was the new head Corch. I knew far less than that about GT. But I figured the Noles would be on their way back up under Norvel and playing at home would be enough to handle the Jackets. Actually not a bad Covid crowd in Doak Campbell. However, I was incorrect, not right, off base....I was wrong. Not a good start to the CMN era.

Snags - you got thoughts on this week's slate?
The way college football has been set up in recent years, the first weekend is usually pretty good with the marquis match ups at Jerry World and the Georgia Dome etc. It's normally the second weekend that has 90% dogs with all the Power 5's playing directional schools. But there's still a handful of games worth popping a cold one or three for. This weekend.....gawt damn that made my eyes hurt looking at that slate of "games".
Here are the top 4 games in descending order (IMO):
Miami @ Louisville
Wake Forest @ NC State
Boston College @ Duke
Houston @ Baylor
Now don't get me wrong. I'll watch some of this shitfest Saturday just because it's sweaty dudes in pads pounding on each other. Wait...does that make me gay? But without the SEC, Pac 17 or Big 10 teeing it up, it's hard to find match ups worth a ding dang damn.
Miami handled UAB 31-14 last week. Sounds like a snoozer but UAB is a senior laden team from top to bottom and they are coached by none other than Bill Clark. To Bill Clark.:bar: So, that may have been a little better win than it looks on the surface. Louisville stayed in control of a pesky Western Kentucky squad to win 35-21. And....oh hell, what am I doing here? Miami by 3. The rest of these games can bugger off. Next week can't get here soon enough. And 2020...go fuck yourself.
-
My picks for this week:
Miami @ Louisville
Yawn
Wake Forest @ NC State
I think I'll wash the car
Boston College @ Duke
Don't I have a root canal appointment to get to?
Houston @ Baylor
ZZZZZZZZ

The one, the only Rhett Lashley is running the U's offense this season.

To Bill Clark and Rhett Lashlee! :bar:

To Bill Clark and Rhett Lashlee! :bar:
I went camping with Clark … I’m in the back of a pickup with Bill Clark and a live deer. Well, Clark, he grabs the deer by the antlers, looks at it and says, ‘I’m Bill Clark! Say it!’ Then he squeezes the deer in such a way that a sound comes out of its mouth — “Billclark!†It wasn’t exactly it, but it was pretty good for a deer.

I was taken aback when I saw that. I think it's a great place for him (lots of talent) and he'll start to make his own name away from Gus's "tree."

Possibly so...but UAB gave up 35 at home the week before to Central Arkansas. It will be interesting though to see how he does with that south Florida speed.

Bill Clark taught me how to love a woman — and how to scold a child.

It's just one game, so take this with a grain of sodium, but a lot of what the U was running looked a lot like the Nick Marshall offense. Makes sense as the QB for the 'Canes is a good runner and they have good backs. Lots of jet motion, power and read option off that motion, followed by deep shots down the sidelines.
-
A lesser game that could be fun to watch is Appy State vs. Marshall. If that was a Thursday night game (It's not) I'd settle in for that one. ASU is always a quality club and Marshall has a QB, Grant Wells, with a rifle arm and a senior line protecting him. I know it was only Eastern "Say Their Names" Kentucky, but when that kid let it go, the ball arrived in a hurry.
-
I found this a little less than semi-mildly interesting from an ESPN write up on the Houston/Baylor match up this weekend.
The 2001 Texas Tech (https://www.espn.com/college-football/team/_/id/2641/texas-tech-red-raiders) football team, led by Mike Leach, was a who's who of future head coaches -- a list that included Kliff Kingsbury, Art Briles, Sonny Dykes, Ruffin McNeill, Greg McMackin and two guys who will go head-to-head this weekend: Baylor (https://www.espn.com/college-football/team/_/id/239/baylor-bears)'s Dave Aranda and Houston (https://www.espn.com/college-football/team/_/id/248/houston-cougars)'s Dana Holgorsen.
And all this time, I thought every head coach in America was a disciple of Lord Saybinz.
-
#17 Miami (FL) at #18 Louisville
Give me Louisville here in what I think will be a game with plenty of points. Louisville's run D will have their hands full but they should be able to throw for plenty yards and snag the win. Louisville 44, Miami 34
#14 UCF at Georgia Tech
Tech notched a big win (thought how big of a deal is FSU these days) but they made a boatload of mistakes. Having played a game gives them experience but UCF has speed and talent to go up against a team like Tech.
UCF 27, Georgia Tech 16
Syracuse at #25 Pitt
Syracuse's offensive line is about as good a wet paper bag holding sharp rocks. Pitt is not special but they are better than the Orange.
Pitt 31, Syracuse 10
Tulsa at Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State's woke warriors should blow past the golden hurricane. Speed and talent wins.
Oklahoma 36, Tulsa 24
Boston College at Duke
Duke looked okay against Notre Dame. Don't know if that's because the Irish are kinda soft or the Blue Satans are strong. BC is going to be rusty and under a new regime that had no time to install anything other than Microschlong Office on their laptops. Give the fighting Cutcliffe's the nod here.
Duke 20, Boston College 13
Houston at Baylor
Much like BC above, Baylor is starting over under DC wondermind Dave Aarranda. Houston isn't grand and if Dana Holgerson spent the whole spring and summer playing online poker and watching PornHub, the Cougs might get beat. However, I think Houston has the edge knowing what they are and what they want to do. Big 12s looking weak sauce outside of Oklahoma and Texas so far.
Houston 37, Baylor 32

UCF has the crafty lefty QB, Dillon Gabriel, back and pretty much the rest of the offense in tact. I can see them hanging 30+ on the Jackets. The other side of the coin is that GT faced a Mike Norvel offense last week and held them just about completely in check. Under Norvel, Memphis ran the same type of quick hitting O that UCF puts up numbers in bunches with. I saw FSU running that all day and also saw GT more than holding their own. I can see a 30-24 type game with UCF coming out on top, simply because UCF has the experience running that system.

You were correct. Rhett Lashlee has those 'Canes running at a fast stroke. Louisville moved the ball but got started too late. Dook sure pooped the bed. They bad. SEC jumps in the pool next week. Good times.

Liberals are allowed to shriek and scream at the sky over the most petty and insignificant slights. I think I'll keep on making my stand clear and encouraging others to follow my lead so long as the anti-American bullshit continues.
Based on what I see in how the mainstream media portrays rapists, looters, thugs, anarchists and rioters that makes me "brave"
Therefore.

Kentucky is the trendy upset pick along with South Carolina over Tennessee. Not sure I'm buying either. I think all will be sluggish on offense coming out of the gate. Advantage defense and therefore, advantage Auburn. It's not even in the show's rotation this week and we've been dying for good games to talk about each week. Talking it over though, none of us were leaning Kentucky so it was scrapped for better discussion material.

I fully expect Terry Wilson Jr. to look like a combination of Cam Newton and Nick Marshall on Sat'dy mawnin. Combine that with a new navy blue shirted OL that really hasn't had any practice and I would probably pick the upset too. I have a sick feeling that this game will be much closer than we think...and it's a good thing Gatewood is having to sit this one out.

Sakerlina over the Fighting Cheetos wouldn't be much of an upset in my opinion. Since when did Tennessee become relevant again?
I'm with the Buzzer. If we had any experience at all on the offensive line, I'd feel pretty good about this game. But right now, the only games I'd feel comfortable about would be Arkansas and Vandy. The wild card though, is what I've been harping on all off season. Is Gus going to let Morris run the show? If so, I pop chub. If not, I'm gonna' need a truck load of Vyagree discreetly delivered to my front door.

Meh...he will have to put a lot of faith in that rebuilt knee...and he's had very little live action on it.
Each offense will struggle, so defense/st will be the key. I like our guys.
