Title: Thursday Night Football - Wokeness & Football
Post by: Snaggletiger on September 04, 2020, 03:51:52 PM
I couldn't find UAB last night but watched a good bit of South Alabama and Southern Miss.  The few fans in the stands looked pretty normal because I don't think they'd have many more in a non-rona year.  Sad that I'm commenting on a game of this "magnitude", but I've just been so ready for some football.  Wasn't a bad match up and South wound up handling them pretty good, even being a 16 point road dog.

I'm wondering if last night was any indication of how these broadcasts will handle the whole social justice dealio.  I saw nothing on the field, on the uniforms or in the stands.  But virtually every commercial break had a different, woke individual, I have no idea who any of them were, saying "I've got 30 seconds to tell you how shitty America is".  I changed the channel a lot during commercial breaks.

The NFL has decided to do something similar to the NBA.  The NBA court is one big BLM tribute.  My understanding is the NFL end zones will not have team names or logos, but rather a woke message.

I have always felt like liberals calling white men privileged is a complete crock of shit. It is ridiculous in most instances, at the same time, anyone would be hard pressed to otherwise explain how you passed the bar exam.

I knew better...I knew better...I knew better.

But yet I still decided to take a peek at the marquis matchup between EKU and The Herd this morning.  Lasted all of 30 seconds (that's what she said).  First thing I saw was a statement made by the EKU team about their wokeness...then saw the shirts their coaches were wearing...that was enough football for me this year.

If you saw Herbpuss fake bawling today while he propagated fraudulent leftist talking points and you still watch any of this shit?  Shame on you.  Shame. Shame.  Fucking shame.

ESPN is blocked.  I won’t watch it again.  Maybe ever.

I checked in on BYU and Navy last night.  Didn't see any signs of the wokeness or anyone apologizing for being white.  What I did see were the results of spending the entire training camp going no contact.  Navy decided to forego any contact and apparently, they also decided to carry that over into the game.  It was ugly.  BYU was already a much better team, but watching Navy trying to "tackle" was embarrassing.  It looked like a 7A High School team playing a pee wee team.

And yet Navy will be ranked higher than Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Oregon, Southern Cal, and Penn State.

I have cancelled every sports channel I have (At&T)> Got rid of all the ESPN's, SEC, Golf, NBA, MLB. Lost a good bit of channels we like but I can't see me giving them my money to be told how to think.  Wife is unhappy cause she lost some of the ones she likes. Getting on your soap box and saying your not going to watch all the while still paying for those channels I don't think really hurts them.

Is this really because you are using this as a form of protest? Or, can you just not afford cable?

They priced the common man out of keen cable.

I didn't watch the NFL opener last night.  But then, all my Sundays will be free this season as well.  I did see a highlight of a bit of the pregame where the players from both teams were walking gayly with arms locked. I know there was a small crowd allowed in the game, and from the sound of things, I'd say 75% of them were booing quite loudly.

Also, I read this morning that they played a "Black National Anthem".  Are you fucking kidding me?  Did this really happen?

They can do what they want. When the revenue stream hits a certain point, the owners will reevaluate.  But for now, they have plenty of money. They don't care about you or me yet.

I think my sentiments are similar to what K has expressed in that I don’t care if they ever play another pro anything game. At all. Could not care less.

I still care about college but they kneel and I’m gone.

Ok with folks addressing concerns but this is so far over the top that I can’t begin to relate.

They protested the common man out of watching and supporting.
FTFY and fuck em.

Let me preface my answers with this:

I remember as a kid going to Cliff-hare, my first game 1969 AU-Wake Forest, the start of the Sullivan to Beasley era. Fall afternoons with my dad, sometimes going to B-ham. Being in Europe and watching the Auburn-Bama while on guard duty at a nuke site (at 4:30am) and watching through a window. Years later, starting around 2003, coming back at least once to a game with both my parents, no matter how expensive hotels got. Watching in 2006 form Nelson club level the turd against Arky. Being lucky enough to come 3 times in 2010. Trying to get tickets to Glendale but unable, so we came back to Auburn for the game and did what everybody else did at the end of that game, cheered, cried and froze at TC.
See, I didn't quit the team, they decided to take a political stance simply because the majority of the players are a certain color as well as the perps.. Had the three guys shot been white, we would not be having this conversation. So you see this is not cop driven but color driven.
Will they (ESPN-SEC network) miss my piddly $100.00 a month, doubtful. I'll miss them (to start) but like all things, I'll move on.

I know that you are doing this as a matter of principle. But it is ironic that this comes during a time that they had pretty much priced you out of cable, anyway.

I am DirectTV, and not coming back to games and this year basically not traveling anywhere I am seen my bank account rise almost 2 to 3 hundred dollars. Plus the 100 bucks I save every month from cancelling the sports packages.    I am gonna take that money and put something special on layaway for the wife at Dollar General for          X-mas.

I will be in Columbus Oct 1st through 5th for my annual military pilgrimage to Ft. Benning.  The over/under on which one of us embellishes a lie already told is 5 minutes.
