Title: So what if...
Post by: Kaos on March 11, 2020, 06:59:10 PM
So what if come August, there's still about .00034% of the entire population with symptoms of this ridiculous virus?  That's the number now.  Of that less than 1% have a severe case -- for the rest it's a fucking bad cold.  So out of every 500,000 people you touch today, one -- one -- might be carrying that particular germ.  But I digress.

What if you haven't wiped your ass in two months because Margaret Queefwaller bought 500 cases back in March clearing out every store shelf and isn't sharing.  What if you haven't worked, eaten out or seen another human being other than your family because there's a chance that you MIGHT, if you interacted with half a million fucking people, run across the ONE in that bunch who has symptoms and who sneezed in your face?

What if Auburn had a football game and nobody was allowed to come.  No, wait, that wouldn't work either.  The players couldn't be around each other or the coaches.

I've about had it with this absurd fucking panic.  It's ridiculous.

100 years ago the Influenza buried 25 million in the first 6 months. We are nearly at 3 months and we have 4600 deaths worldwide.  It’s going to have to put in some serious work to be even half as deadly as the flu.

I have been told that unless you embrace the hysteria and take extreme measures you are ignorant and of the same ilk as the climate change deniers.

As I told someone yesterday I’m far more afraid of my fellow man and his penchant for hysterical overreaction than I am the illness itself

Just a side note on the Coronas.  Saw something along these lines on the bookfaces when it was announced that Tom Hanks caught the viruses.

You've had aids, been stranded on an island with a volleyball, been shot by Germans, crashed a plane into a river, been kidnapped by pirates and now you have the Corona virus?  Dude, please stay away from me.

We ban travel to China and Europe, cancel major sporting events and suspend sporting seasons in the name of preserving life but we don’t close even a single abortion clinic for the same reason.

The governor of Ohio just closed schools for three weeks
Well, I went back to Ohio
But my family was gone
I stood on the back porch
There was nobody home
I was stunned and amazed
My childhood memories
Slowly swirled past
Like the wind through the trees
Ay, oh, way to go, Ohio

The Jefferson County (Birmingham) EMA is suggesting no gatherings or events that would be more than 500 people. Pretty sure that will quickly lead to schools in Alabama also being closed.

This is stupid crazy. It's really hard to wrap my head around house our society is easily controlled by fear. The rate this is going, I am not going to be surprised if there are quarantine mandates put in place for all of us very soon.

There could be silver lining to all this.  Mini Snags is in his second semester of JUCO.  He made the Dean's list the first semester.  He's on everybody's list, including mine this semester.  I think they should shut it down and give him a do-over.  I mean, how's anyone going to concentrate with the Corona's swirlin' all up in here?

After much consideration I have changed my position on this topic.  If you have a garbage diet, are unhealthy, smoke daily, never exercise and have never attempted to take care of your own personal health, I believe you should self isolate for at least 6 month. While I continue to live my every day life I don’t want to see your fat unhealthy ass shoveling unlimited amounts of food into your fat disgusting mouth in between smoke breaks. Also, don’t call 911 when you and your family start a fight because bringing people into your house could be deadly to your weak immune system.

Thank you for your willingness to stay the fuck away from me as I continue to live my high quality life.

Whiff and Whiff.

If you ladies go about life as usual and survive, which you are both tough guys, so you may—you will be among the 85%.

You will basically have survived a bad cold. But you will also have infected 3.5 people, each.

Despite my brain damage,  I’m likely still the smartest person on here. And yes, I realize Wes is still alive. Just take my word.

You won’t get a trophy for surviving and you will have contributed to keeping the virus alive.

It’s the 15% of more severe cases that we have to worry about. And even though Token thinks we should kill off all the fat smokers with diabetus, all of them aren’t in that category.

Older people can be in great shape and their immune systems still react to this virus in a way that causes lung secretions that they drown in. If you’ve ever heard the death rattle, you know what I’m talking about.

It ain’t pretty.

I’m encouraging you to not live life as normal. Do it for the elderly.

Do it for kaos and snags. Ok, maybe that’s a bad example. But surely there is someone over 60 that you want to live.
I don’t know what happened to jmar but he’s gotta be one. And he’s actually likable. Sani is awful close if not there. To being old, I mean. Not likable.

But seriously, it’s real. What happened in Italy and China. For the portion of 15% that need the ventilator and there aren’t any available, it causes that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach because I remember struggling to breath and it feels awful. Terrifying. Then the vent takes you from hell to heaven in that there is zero effort.

Overrunning our hospitals and ICUs can only be prevented by staying home and flattening the curve. It’s not about us individually. It’s about saving the old folks.

You're gonna need to talk to my CIO about that...because he says it's business as usual for our department.  We are here to support all those users who are at home pretending to VPN in and work.

Well, I guess I should have worded that better. We have to go to work. But we don’t have to go to the gym.

Well, except Token. He needs to go to the gym. Definitely.

I just don't see the model being duplicated in the US. Italy had an unusual number of older folks in close proximity with a culture of touching and hugging. China was ground zero and had no idea.

The travel restrictions put in place by this admin will prove to be very important. We have a large population of elderly that do not clump in society. So that should prove to be beneficial.

Our vulnerability in that area is, as we saw in WA, the old folks homes. If it gets into areas of high elderly population without the ability to distance themselves, it could hit each hard. But in each case, the institution itself is isolated from the rest of society.

The next two weeks will be our peak. Hopefully we have enough supplies to wipe our collective asses.

If you really want to, after 6 is fine. But I must warn you, I spar naked.

If you have a problem with that, you best not come.

And I don’t appreciate your using me to replace your “heavy” bag. It’s neither cool nor funny.

You’re better than that, Buzz.

After seeing the panic in this country after this past week, you should be able to see this model. It doesn’t take much to literally scare the shit out of people, here. They are buying up horse trailers full of toilet paper.

It can happen here and especially if people don’t help stop the spreading.
