Are we really pulling out?
And do we really still need to be there?

Sorry to pee on the neocons parade but this is the right move. We can’t be the worlds policeman at every single freaking turn. We can’t force feed to make the Middle East in our own image. We can’t nation build at will. Especially at the sacrifice of 1000s of American soldier lives. And in the end, nothing will really change. This is just the Middle East and how it functions. As much as we think we can, we cannot change it much. Time and Time again we think we can.
I’m not talking about going to war when needed. Or not taking out terrorists like we have done with Isis. This is about not getting dragged into useless and endless skirmishes for all the wrong reasons.

But. But. The Kurds are out friends and we need to keep those 50 troops there!
50. Let that sink in.
From what it is looking like, Trump made a deal with Turkey to have them continue to fight ISIS while we agree to bow out. We shall see what happens. But at some point we have to leave. It is diminishing returns.
And as we have shown, we can still bomb ISIS any time we need to.
People do not realize, but Iran is the next big issue.

Exactly. 50. It’s ridiculous.
we have bigger issues to discuss if 50 is gonna make to break the world order as we know it - it’s because it isn’t 50. That’s just how we get in the door. Like advisors in Nam.

This has been my position for as long as I can remember, especially in the Middle East. That part of the world has been in total conflict since the beginning of time, and it's not ever going to change.

For all his faults - trump realizes this.
Reagan realized it after a couple of incidents.
Im just glad to have a Prez that finally understands the Middle East on a macro level which is pretty much what you just said. The only that ever changes at the end of the day, is the body count for the good guys. And the Bill.

Mind boggling how permanently fractured that area of the world is.

(CNN) -- The Pentagon will deploy 1,800 more troops to Saudi Arabia in response to requests by the leading US military commander in the Middle East and, in part, because the US Navy is unable to send a relief aircraft carrier to deter potential Iranian aggression, multiple US officials tell CNN.

Yeah it seems we are now directly focusing where the commerce and assets are as opposed to a wasteland. That's what the world's super power is supposed to do.
There's seldom any clear understanding as to why we ally with certain countries over others. Only the ultra wealthy give a fuck about the Sauds and their interests. Even Israel has warmed up to the butchering bastards.

Keep in mind too why this situation even exists.
