Steven Leath out as Auburn president.
Will be known for the Gus buyout and not much else.
-
Guy is a total dipshit and fool. His hiring was a mistake way before the buyout snafu. Good riddance asshat.
-
Iowa State for the win again!

Ran roughshod over the university for two years. Started telling people "if you don't agree with my vision, you can leave now" and had his leadership team spread that through campus. My guess is BoT had enough. Like Nicky (Joe Pesci) in Casino - Piss off enough people enough times, you get the bat to the head and buried in a cornfield.
President searches (if done correctly) take a long time. Probably means Gustav is safe no matter what. However, undoing the damage this guy did at the university will take years to undo far beyond the football coach contract.

BREAKING: Auburn University board executive committee recommends Gogue for interim president
Jay Gogue may be returning to Samford Hall on an interim basis.
The executive committee for Auburn University's board of trustees met via conference call Sunday afternoon and voted to recommend appointing Gogue as interim president.
The committee also voted to approve the resignation of Steven Leath as president, effective June 21.
Gogue was Auburn University president from 2007 until Leath was hired in2017.
The following statement was released by the university on Sunday afternoon:
"The executive committee of the Auburn University Board of Trustees convened telephonically today and voted to accept the resignation of Steven Leath as the institution’s president.
"The committee also voted to recommend Jay Gogue for the position of interim university president. Members of the full Board of Trustees will consider the executive committee’s recommendation during a specially-called meeting on July 8.
"Gogue earlier served for 10 years as Auburn’s 18th president."

Heard this from multiple folks in the know as well. Guy was "out of his element- Donny!" compared to Iowa State. Pissed off all of the Department Heads. Honestly, I think he was on his last leg that his fucking incredulous dumbass contract with Gus kicked him over the edge. I am actually surprised he survived through December.

Well hey. At least one thing good came out of the damn contract.

Steven Leath is out after only two years as Auburn University's president. Why does it matter to the athletics department? The domino effect. Auburn administrators and coaches will be affected by the board of trustees' decision to kick Leath to the curb with a press release just before 10 p.m. on Friday. Jay Gogue, the former Auburn president, is back in office as the interim president. Will the micromanaging of the Auburn athletics department cease with Leath's departure? Will athletics director Allen Greene be allowed to finally operate without someone constantly breathing down his neck from Samford Hall? Oh, and there's the entire power structure of the board of trustees to discuss, particularly those who were aligned with Leath before his ouster by the board. What does it mean for football coach Gus Malzahn (https://247sports.com/Coach/Gus-Malzahn-17), whose seven-year, $49 million deal isn't popular with a lot of folks after it was negotiated and handled by Leath and board member Raymond Harbert, who seemingly has lost his voice in the fallout of this incredible soap opera.
Brandon Marcello, Phillip Marshall and Ronnie Sanders discuss all of that and more as they make sense of the back-stage drama and what it means for the future of the university and Auburn athletics.
Not a big listener/fan of nom nom. But worth a listen, especially on the inside take of the micromanaging of the Athletic Department.
-
I hope we don't get of Greene, I thought he was the only good thing Leath did, get rid of Jacobs and hire Greene.
I hope he gets a chance to actually run the department now.
-
After listening to that this guy was a blight to Auburn, so so glad he is gone.
I knew it was bad, but I didn't realize how bad.

Let me give you boys a tip. Don't engage with Auburn Twittah unless you are gonna pump the sunshine, ride on the bus, or tow the line.
