Title: Spring Practice
Post by: wesfau2 on March 12, 2019, 03:51:23 PM
...doesn't start for six days.

In the meantime, here's some of the latest news:

Alec Jackson (https://topics.al.com/tag/Alec Jackson/), a redshirt sophomore who appeared in 11 games at defensive tackle last season, is now listed as an offensive lineman on Auburn’s official roster. Jackson has also switched his jersey from No. 92 to No. 65 ahead of the start of spring practice on Monday.

...

Jackson’s position along the offensive line is not specified on Auburn’s roster, though the Tigers are in need of depth at tackle, where they have only five other scholarship players this spring (https://www.al.com/auburnfootball/2019/02/auburn-wants-largest-offensive-line-class-of-gus-malzahn-era-in-2020.html): starters Prince Tega Wanogho and Jack Driscoll, and reserves Austin Troxell, Prince Michael Sammons and Bailey Sharp.

In case you haven't noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven't, the Tigres started spring practice today.

5 Pressing questions that need to be answered by the end of the spring:
1.  Who will be the front runner to take the first snap under center at Jerry World?
b.  Will anyone step up to protect that guy's blindside at tackle?
iii.  Can Auburn win right away now?
quatro.  Will the sports car, or the tow truck be the first Chevron race winner?
5.  Who will be the in stadium DJ this season?

I didn't realize that Hastings, Monday, Newkirk and Peters were all going to miss the spring.  Not catastrophic and will help build depth (I don't recognize most of the 2nd string defense...much less the 3rd).

I remember when Alec Jackson sang that chattahoochee song.

Definitely a lot of true freshmen getting reps.  Kam Martin as #1 RB?  Do...not....like.

I didn't realize Hastings was coming back at all.  That makes me giddy like a school girl.

** Just noticed Devan Barrett at CB?  What rock have I been hiding under the last few months?

I saw that and thought the same thing.  I remember this past season wondering why the guy wasn't still coming in once a game to catch the same swing pass to the left for a 3 yard loss.
