Sooo...essentially, Cotton spoke some bullshit to rivals to keep them off his case.  He and his family are going to discuss their options after his game tonight.

Honestly, I have no issues with it.  The kid has the right to go to a school that doesn't have an inept offensive coaching staff.

Yeah, I can't really blame him for wanting to reconsider his commitment.  If the offense shows some life, we should still be ok with him.  Also, look for more commits to do the same thing.

I wouldn't look too much into this. Like ssgaufan said, if your O improves, he'll roll to Auburn.

I've seen multiple articles about Cotton since the CTF expulsion, and he clearly said in MOST of them that he's solidly committed, and that his parents really like Auburn, and he doesn't see a reason NOT to come to Auburn YET.   Besides, I'm not sure we're going to back to 100% I-Formation.

Tuberville and everyone else knows the spread isn't the problem, it was the mixture, or lack there of that was the problem.  You get the right play calling in there, and things should strengthen the recruiting, not weaken it.   Besides, if we had continue to look inept running the spread this year, it might have been much more damaging than firing CTF.

The one thing that has been missing here is a public statement from tubs assuring these guys that we will bring in an oc who opens the offense up a bit and gives skill players a chance to shine.

If arky puts 9 in the box and shuts us down today, tubs should be publicly beaten and given one last chance to make this shit right.

We need a competent oc who is given control of the o for the most part. Not someone forced to accept billy joe and jim bob as his meddling assistants who is bestus buddies with the hc.

If tubs fucks this up any worse, I am damn near ready to join the fire tubby express.

Shouldn't this be in the recruiting forum?  Mods please move this.

What time is the flogging?  I've got travel time to consider, but want to be there.

I just read on Rivals where Philip Lutz...STUD TE out of GA...is now taking 4 other official visits to schools. He is my second favorite commit in this class after Cotton. This kid is a STUD. BIG TIME! #5 ranked TE in the nation I think. I will be PISSED if Auburn loses this guy!

UPDATE on Lutz:

Lutzenkirchen said last week he would be considering other schools and already planned to take official visits to Florida State and Texas Tech. Lutzenkirchen's visit to FSU is this weekend. However, it appears the four-star tight end has reaffirmed his commitment to the Tigers and will no longer take the two visits. In a text message received tonight from Lutzenkirchen, he wrote, "I don't think I'm going (to FSU this weekend). They wanted me to, but I don't want to visit there. I'm committed to Auburn." Lutzenkirchen said he would have more to say later in the week. I hope to have a full update then.

I really hope that this kid stays with us.  He is one of our best recruits IMO.
