Title: Feeling better?
Post by: Kaos on January 08, 2019, 02:58:39 PM
Last night was hilarious.  Enjoyed watching Bama get curb stomped even if it was by Clemson.

But if you're feeling better about the state of things in general, let me douse that in cold water real quick.

Final AP poll is out.

Auburn started the season ranked 9th.
We finished the season unranked, with half as many poll votes as UAB.

Teams ranked ahead of Auburn include Utah State, Army, Boise State, Fresno State, Mississippi State, A&M, Kentucky, Appalachian State, Utah, Iowa State, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Alabama.

Not as young as Bama and Clemson, sadly.

Always feels better after watching bama get stomped.

More good news...Marlon Davidson & Derrick Brown are returning for their Sr. seasons, along with CB Javaris Davis, Safety Daniel Thomas, LT Prince Tega, & LG Mike Horton.

I find mild excitement related to Auburn football with the number of underclassmen returning next year. Hopefully they can progress because I don't think the coaches will get them there. The players will have to do that on their own.

The schedule next year is not forgiving.

Aug. 31 vs. Oregon (Arlington, Texas) - Toss Up
Sept. 7 vs. Tulane - Win
Sept. 14 vs. Kent State - Win
Sept. 21 at Texas A&M - Toss Up
Sept. 28 vs. Mississippi State - Probably win considering what they are losing
Oct. 5 at Florida - Probably loss
Oct. 12 BYE - Always a problem
Oct. 19 at Arkansas - Easy win, bottom feeder program
Oct. 26 at LSU - Loss, we never win there
Nov. 2 vs. Ole Miss - Win, tire fire on the front lawn
Nov. 9 BYE - Two BYEs in one year! Oh the HUMANITY!
Nov. 16 vs. Georgia - Ugh
Nov. 23 vs. Samford - Win and a prayer
Nov. 30 vs. Alabama - Ugh

6 projected wins, 2 projected losses, 2 Toss Ups, 2 Ughs, and a microphone. Hello Birmingham Bowl!

I moved aTm and Ducks (they are so fast) to losses.  Also think when we start 3-3, Gus is gone going into the bye week.  I agree that 6-6 is the most likely record for the team next season.

Those teams deserved to be ranked higher. We lost to four of those teams and would probably lose to two or three more.

I just enjoyed the moment Monday night and yesterday.  I had no illusions that the state of things has changed.  Clemson and Bama will be playing for all the marbles again next year more than likely. Both programs are going to be at the top tier for a good time while every other program tries to keep up.

Next season could be just as JarHead said.  6-6 over all starting off 3-3 and Gus being fired mid season.  I'm thinking we are going to go 7-6.  I think we win one of A&M or UF even though we shouldn't.  Then we will promptly fire Gus (deservedly so) and fuck up the next coaching search because.....well Auburn.

I concur. Hearing bama fans whine and complain is music to my ears. Their tears are so delicious.

The best one liner I have seen concerning their tasty sweet tears was, "Bama fans haven't been this mad since Wal-Mart moved the Sudafed behind the counter".

I would like to introduce our next Auburn Head Coach Chip Lindsey.    Chip comes to Auburn after having a successful 8-4 Head Coach campaign at Troy.  Chip said all the right things and we look forward to the leadership he brings...

Funny that you bring this up but I was down visiting the Warden this past weekend and there are a LOT of Troy people that are really excited to have him there.  I don't mean run of the mill fans either, I mean folks that know football.  Made me immediately wonder about how much Gus may have interfered with his plan?

I mean, they are Troy fans. Consider the source.
