Da-na-na-na-na-na-na-na.
Okay, bored am I of Gus talk. Hopefully we'll still have a team next year and we'll play games and they'll keep score and we'll have uniforms and cheerleaders and referees and everything. So, who will be on that team? Especially on our D, there's a good chance of a mass exodus, leaving us with only Big Fat Bryant and Coitus Miller. We know we lose guys like Dontavious Russell and Andrew Williams along with our entire starting LB corp in Williams, Davis and Atkinson to graduation. Everyone else on the D that starts or contributes is a junior or less. But that's where it gets concerning.
Do Derrick Brown, Marlon Davidson and Nick Coe come out? I believe I saw where Coe would be eligible. If they do, we're in a world of shit. Personally, I never thought Marlon Davidson progressed since an extremely sold freshman campaign. He was good, but never dominated the way I thought he would. Derrick Brown just flat out disappeared this year IMO. Coe was easily the most active on the line. But I know jack squat about evaluating talent and the pro scouts know whether a guy can actually play or not at that level.
Jamel Dean and Javaris Davis are also juniors. Will they test the waters? I've stopped trying to project whether a kid will make it because guys like Neiko Torched and Brandon King (Who?) are still in the league.
On offense, I can only think of Ryan Man Love Davis being a senior. So he gone. The only other player that's really in question is Jarrett Stidham. Does he give it a try?
I'll tell you my thoughts on Stidham. Unless we have the option of Kellly Bryant or some other experienced transfer, I'd prefer he stick around. I understand people's hesitation and I certainly think he's digressed from year one to two. But I still think he's a better option than a true freshman with little backing him up. As far as his pro chances, I've learned, as I said above, that the NFL scouts who measure everything from your mental capacity to your nutt sack, know whether a guy can play. They can teach someone how to play the position correctly. JS has talent and throws the purtiest pass I've ever seen. Would he make it? I have no freakin' clue. Wouldn't surprise me though if he did.
Who do you think declares? Who stays?

I figure the DL that are eligible will at least test the waters.
I think Dean is gone (seems like he's 173 years old anyway.)
Stidham...tough call. I think he'll seek evaluation and if he's Round 3 or higher (doubtful, but what the fuck do I know?) he's gone. I'd like to see him stay...unless Bryant wants to join the team.

Asking because I don't recall. Did the NFL go to an NBA type rule allowing them to declare but go back if they're not evaluated high enough? I don't think they did, but I'm old. Not having that rule is the moistest dumbest thing. Let a kid go through the process and be able to make a decision about his career and life.

They can seek evaluations (and most players do) and, as long as they maintain amateur status (no agent or $$$), can come back.
Relevant: The College Advisory Committee’s process for determining whether underclassmen are ready for the pro game changed in 2014. Under the revised NFL guidelines, a college can request evaluations for only five players, with exceptions determined on a case-by-case basis; previously, there was no limit on the number of players from one team who could be reviewed.

You forgot on offense, we lose Chandler Cox that's a bigger deal than most will realize.

I'd like to see him stay...
God I fucking hope not. Who do I need to call to make sure the NFL takes him?

None of this even matters if we rid ourselves of Gus.

Well, I'm still going to be on the Planes regardless, so I'd rather them not suck.

FWIW, Mel Kiper Juneyah says Stidham a major disappointment. Falls to 5th or 6th round.
The topic was supposed to be "teams that were the most disappointing."
Anyway his partner Dark Noka corrected him and put blame on the offensive line, moving to different positions etc.
The next day on Joxx the three Turd revellers had Cole Cubelic on to give his take on the SECCG opponents and he ventured to say that Auburn had no problems opening running lanes in the Iron Bowl v. Alabama.
So there's that to mull over a bit.
